It is encrusted with gold sequins with an iridescent white trim around the neck. The bottom hem and on the sleeves. Zippers up the back. The shorts are gold fabric with gold sequins at the bottom. The top of the shorts is not stretchy. Very good vintage condition. A few sequins missing here or there but the outfit is so encrusted with sequins that you would never notice. This was found in a lot with Indian and Turkish textiles. So I am not sure if this is from one of those countries. It looks like a panel that may have been worn over skirt or pants or a wall/ curtain hanging. It is made of cream satin rayon. The front has a net material on which the wide gold is embroidered or pulled through. There are several type of gold metal with different textures.The gold me ta l lic threads are very gold and shiny. The top has what looks like a wait band and gold metallic braiding is around waist band and each panel. At the top there is a narrow opening or pocket to pull a rod or belt through. It measures 20 inches across top and each panel is 10.5 x 20.5 inches long. There is no other means to attach just the narrow opening. It is excellent condition. We are delighted to share this great find. This is an antique metallic thermometer that has been mounted into a glass fronted frame. The thermometer has the name on the front ~ Auburndale Watch Co. Auburndale. MA There are no model numbers on this. Through research I discovered that this company was a watch manufacture originally. They were not having much success and developed this thermometer as a way to utilize the machinery they had in place. This dates to the last quarter of the 19th Century. The header consists of fine metal threads in which the one strand is woven through it as can be seen in photos. This trim is new old stock and has never been used. It is circa 1920s and I have had it at least for ten years. Because the cotton base is a brighter shade. The fringe is brighter. It is not gaudy, but one can see the gold threads. The photos are pretty true to its shade. Therefore, if one wishes for an aged patination, even though this is an earlier fringe, then this is not suitable. It should also be noted that depending on the color of a cotton base, it will affect the patination of the trim. Turkish/Ottoman Gold Metallic Fancy Waist Band with Purse
This fancy Turkish Waist Band is comprised of 2 pieces and a detachable purse. The band measures 24 inches without the extra similarly matching piece. The added piece is not the same as it is about a 1/2 inch wider and the inside lining is cream silk and deteriorating. The waist band lining is gold- olive silk with some wear and shattering on on end. The belt still remains pinned as I found it. There are eye hooks that on original belt and also on the extra piece. The embroidery is of tin dold metallic thread and the pattern is beautiful. There is a center ball and tassel with 4 more balls at the end. The detachable is held to band with a metal clip and this is decorated like the band. It also had center ball and 3 sets with 3 balls on each of the corners. The band is almost 2 1/4 inches wide and 5 inches at the center. Total length is 36 ... moreinches with extra piece. Purse is also 5 X 5 inches.
