Please check my other listings for vintage audio gear from the 1950's-1970's. For sale is a wonderful sounding pair of extremely rare Ampex MP543 mixers which use the highly sought after UTC HA-100X input transformers- quite possibly the nicest input transformers ever offered by UTC. These sound absolutely stunning with ribbon microphones- about as good as you get for 1950's preamplifier design. These mixers are the equivalent of owning six RCA OP-6's( 6J7 tube preamps) Since OP-6's are going for around $3500 this is a great deal on 6 high-end 1950's tube preamps. Each mixer has three preamps. Two line inputs, and one unbalanced output that is at microphone level. These use the same tube preamp circuit and transformer as the Ampex 385, the predecessor to the 3761 mixer used on all the early Stax recordings until 1966: ... morehttp:staxrecords.free.fr/studioA.htm These were originally designed to mix three microphone channels into the mono input of an Ampex 300 bathtub recorder and were as far as I can tell the first mixers ever produced by Ampex. Each input has stepped Daven attenuators and a 6J7 tube. These are by far the nicest sounding preamps I've ever owned and are a rare example of 1950's American made craftsmanship. I was using these as my main outboard preamps for the last year up until I purchased my early 70's Spectra Sonics console. And since then I've simplified and pretty much stopped using any outboard preamps. If you don't love the sound of these mixers you are welcome to return them within 7 days, no questions asked. I've completely restored these units with new electrolytic capacitors for the power supply and coupling stages. All the tubes are strong. I am the second owner. As the previous owner(a Grammy winning Jazz engineer) bought these new and stored them when he"upgraded" to Ampex MX-10's in the 1960's. This is a lot of transformers from the estate of a studio recording engineer. Although untested. Condition is excellent and look to never have been used. Also included are a pair of NOS output transformers marked 73-4-2X with gold pins. These were obviously intended to be used in a piece of custom recording equipment as he modified and built much of his studio and was meticulous about using the highest quality parts. This is a 4 channel mic mixer designed to be a front end mixer for Ampex 300 and 400 series tape recorders. It mixes the mic signals at mic level. The mono output is then fed into the mic input on the recorder. It is in super clean condition and was pulled from the rack in working condition but is sold as is because of it's age. UTC Passive Equalizer Model 4B
This thing is interesting. It passes signal and all the controls work. It has male XLR connectors on the input as well as the output. Passes signal both ways. It does add a certain warmth to the sound as you'd expect with something with vintage transformers. It's subtle and so is the amount of cut in the filters. It's rack mountable. But you have to remove the knobs and the faceplate to get to the rack holes. The faceplate then covers up those unsightly rack screws for your sanity. Cool thing. Never seen any others like it.

This is a very hard to find UTC H 84 power transformer for tube amplifiers or pre amps. It's a high quality high power transformer that is huge. It is pictured with a UTC A 20 for size(THE A 20 IS NOT INCLUDED) It is 115 volts on the primary and has a varitr of voltage on the secondary. The secondary is 6.3 volts at 1 amp. 6.3 volts at 5 amps, 5 volts at 3 amps, 700 volts(with a center tap) at 225 milliamp and 750 volts with a center tap at 205 milliamp. It is tested and working well.

Here is a very nice pair of UTC A 20 transformers. These can be used for inputs or outputs on you discrete mic pre amps for a great upgrade. These are the same transformers found in the vintage GE and RCA germanium transistor pre amps of the late 50s and early 60s. I've used these with Neve pre amp cards to build pres and they are fantastic for that. I like them as much as the original Neve transformers. They can also be used to run mixes through to give you the vintage sound of a transformer. These are in very nice shape and are tested and working.
