Vintage Orvis Umpqua Hart Bamboo Fly Reel NR 9 weight Vom Hofe Hardy Style
NO RESERVE AUCTION with Buy it Now You are bidding on a vintage 1970's Orvis Umpqua Reel anti-reverse RIGHT HAND WIND ONLY. This classic look has been taken from Vom Hofe and refined by the Hardy Cascapedia and now shows up in the Orvis reel. Perfect for your bamboo rod. The reel comes with 200 yds of 20 lb backing and 30 yds of WF9F. I am assuming the line is original. But looks fine to use as is. I have some research that this was built by Hart for Orvis, and that there were only 500 made, however, I can not confirm the 500 number. I am assuming that is where the number U302 came from Umpqua number 302 of 500. I have attached the Fireside Angler catalogue picture that describes and depicts this reel. It was sold in the 70's for $190 and the block leather case alone is worth at least $100 now. Also included are 2 spare cork drag ... morewashers(1 now damaged see note in bold below) however the two that are in the reel are fine like new. This reel is truly like new inside and out. Only thing I can see wrong is some marking on the inside of the leather case and a small nick near the U on the reel seat(See pictures) The nick may have occurred at the factory, I don't know. I was asked about the dimensions of the reel today. The diameter of the reel is 3 3/8" and the width of the spool between the end plates(without taking it apart) is 1 1/4" I am so mad at my self. After taking measurements and putting the reel back in the case. The reel foot hit one of the cork washers and snapped it in two. I thought I should tell everyone. The drag on the reel is awesome from free spin to"I can barely pull it out. I would consider taking this reel to fight large trout. Salmon, strippers, bonefish, whatever. This is some dirt I picked up from a recent trip to the Umpqua River in Oregon( I won't tell if it was the North or South Umpqua) What You are bidding on is about 6 ounces(about a 4" X 6" bag) of Paydirt concentrate. I bring home five gallon buckets. That I then run through My sluice set-up. I classify it down to make Your panning experience easier. There are a lot of fines and some small flakes in this pay dirt, how much I don't know? I run at least a 5 gallon bucket per bag. A very vintage yearbook from Roseburg. Oregon Senior High School Class of 1949. I have pictured the front cover, the inside front cover with many autographs, the faculty, the sophomore class, the inside back cover, and the outside back cover-in that order. There is. As I mentioned above, the yellowing and spotting which is limited to the inside front and back covers. The inner pages are in great condition with no yellowing or spotting and very few autographs. Most, or almost all, of the autographs are on the inside front and back covers. There is some cracking to the white cover on the exterior spine but otherwise, the binding is sturdy. This basket was identified by Ralph Shanks as being Kalapuya or Upper Umpqua from Oregon. Ralph Shanks is a noted expert on Native American Indian baskets and the author of Indian Baskets of Central California and California Indian Baskets. Mr. Shanks was sent photographs of this basket and made the previously mentioned identification. Additionally Mr. Shanks commented that this basket is" not common and I think important"It is woven from juncus. The basket is in very good condition and is approximately 6 inches in diameter and approximately 3 3/4 inches tall. This basket was made for utilitarian use and not for the tourist trade.

This reel is in fantastic condition as is its original leather case and everything operates just like it should. A SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD, On Oregon-California Route showing the Umpqua River and Power Dam near Roseburg, Oregon Oreg Ore OR Card publisher not notated The overall condition is. Always check corners and edges for possible wear(see scan) As grading is subjective, please look at scan for faults/defects. A postally unused card may have writing on the reverse. The Golden Age of postcards. Marked by the"divided back" began on March 1, 1907. The address had to be written on the right side of the back of the postcard while the left side was reserved for writing messages. At this time in American history the postcard hobby became a public addiction. Publishers printed millions of cards in this era. Most postcards were printed in Germany, the world leader in lithographic processes. ... moreThen at the height of this country wide mania, WWI began. It brought with it. A crash in the hobby as the supply of postcards from Germany came to an end. At this time, English and U.S. publishers seized the opportunity to fill the gap with their products, many of which were of lower quality. This along with the recurrent influenza epidemics and the WWI war shortages, all had an adverse affect on the American postcard hobby. Then as a last straw. The proliferation of the telephone, provided a fast, reliable means to keep in touch, at least for short distances in larger cities. The phrase, Drop me a Line" became less important and hence, it is considered that the"Golden Age of Postcards" came to an end about 1915. The postcard view is now highly sought after by many institutions and individuals. As it serves as a historical record of the past. Be it the view of a town main street, the local church, school, roadside attraction or the countryside, the post card mirrors the way our parents, grandparents and even we, once lived. Captured in these olden day images are views of people in the dress of the day, often at work, at play, at school or at church.

Umpqua River Lighthouse: William Burns' Sculpture
Cardee West commissioned local artist William Burns to sculpt his interpretation of the Umpqua lighthouse. The lighthouse was completed in 1894 and was Oregon's first coastal beacon. The sixty-five foot tower has long stood a symbol of safety for vessels approaching Umpqua River's treacherous bar. This sculpture is in very good condition. I bought it many years ago and it has been standing on a shelf since then. I think the base It stands on is a piece from a redwood tree(it is definitely real wood) The lighthouse stands 9" high(including the base) The base is approximately 8" by 5" wide.

This USGS map is an original 1911 reprint of a 1904 edition of a 1901-1902 survey preformed by R. U. Goode with triangulation by W. T. Griswold. For being more than 100 years old. It is in surprisingly good condition. Current towns shown are Riddle, Canyonville, Wolf Creek and Merlin. This historical map shows Schools, ranches, mines, railroads in addition to prominent geographical features such as Cow creek and the south Umpqua River.
