(BYT#612) EXTREME PRESSURE BEACHCOMBED LOBSTER OR CRAB POT BUOY NET FLOAT
WE LOVE TO COMBINE BUOYS FOR CHEAPER SHIPPING COSTS! This is 1 super rare beachcombed crab pot buoy found on the Washington coast this last winter. It is made from Styrofoam and measures approx. 9-10" long and 5-7" wide. Pressure buoys usually shrink 50% from their normal size but some times even more! This buoy is called a pressure buoy. It gets dragged down to deep depths of the ocean. Usually over 50 fathoms and the water pressure compacts the buoy to give it its wrinkly skin effect! This usually only happens when a crab pot is lost during a storm and dragged to deeper depths of the ocean. Eventually the rope rots and the buoy will pop back to the surface to be washed upon the beach. Most never make it for sea growth usually makes them to heavy to float. It has the original rope running through it for easy hanging! These floats ... morewere used for the Dungeness Crab industry. They would mark where the crab pot traps were for the crab boats to pull the pots back up. They seldom break loose unless we have a huge storm. What's great about these is they are Styrofoam so they weigh less than the old wood ones and will last forever. This one is in good beachcombed condition. The paint is cracking, chipping, flaking, and fading on this buoy! Looks very nautical! It would look great hanging on a fence, porch, or a room with a nautical theme. This is a very nice vintage butter bowl in the form of a crab. It is an early Czecoslovakian cup as shown by the base which reads the early form for the Country"Czechoslovaquie" I think it might be as early as the 1930's from the information I looked up on the internet.It is ceramic with red and black enamel which is in excellent condition. It is roughly 5" by 4 1/4" by 2 1/2" in height. It is in used condition with a little crazing inside the cup. This would be a great addition to any collection. Please read all terms before bidding.
