Vintage handmade New England Oak Slat Folding Canoe boat seat Old Town Style
This auction is for a Vintage handmade Adirondack style Oak Slat Folding Canoe or boat seat. Look to be patterned after Old Town style seat made about 25 years ago by a craftsman in New Hampshire. These look never used. Made from oak with brass screws. They are 15" wide. The legs are 4.5" tall to the bottom of the seat. They are 22.5" tall when unfolded. I have two of these I am listing, in separate auctions. They are unmarked. Very well made. These are not made by the Old Town Company. Antique Canoe Kayak Boat Folding Seat- Caned Fishing Seat
This is an antique folding canoe. Kayak or boat fishing seat. It has a four step folding process, and is complete and in working order. There is one puncture hole in the woven cane seat that does not affect the integrity of the seat. The folding mechanism is quite old, as are the attached hinges, so the chair is a little wobbly when opened up. It could be shored up for use, but considering it's age, it's recommended best use would be that of a decorative piece or display at this point. Sno Shu, Norway, ME" These chairs were made by the company back in the 1920's, 30's, 40's for various expeditions such as to the South Pole etc.They were made to fold and are lightweight so that users could easily transport them in the snow and up the mountain. This chair has a bentwood folding hickory frame and rawhide laced seating& back. All are in good. Used condition, with no breaks or repairs that I can see. The chair rocks slightly, and it folds easily. From the ground up, it's approximately 25" tall when opened. This is a very unusual folding Stadium or sporting event seat as it can go on a five gallon bucket as well for fishing. Clamps or hooks are spring loaded to accommodate different size applications. This isn't a lightweight chair as it weighs almost 9 pounds. The round part can be removed to repair chair. There is a carry handle. Frame is heavy strong flat steel and will support much weight. Upholstery is plastic and has holes. And cracks. Metal has minor surface rust, see photos. Seat is 14 1/2" by 11 1/4" and back is 15" wide and 4 1/2" tall. Circle is 9" across.
