My Grandpas Dad got this for his Birthday in 1905. Then was given to Grandpa in the 20s, It still has the holder and I am including a 1948 Reel to go with it. It is a 4 piece rod, has 2 tops with tips, 3 parts together measure 9' in length it is a fly pole and Reel. It is Marked UTK on reel base, see story below. It is in pretty good shape does shows wear from use and age. still works great. Reel is a 1948 Perrine MFG Co. Free Stripping Reel with patent numbers and maker info. has weighted floating string. In good condition. The pole has the UTK stamp of 1905 see story below. Happy bidding. This is a nice piece of fishing history. The holder is hand carved wood covered by cloth there are a couple tears in cloth.Horrocks-Ibbotson was one of America's largest production rod companies for many years, competing head to head with Montague ... moreand South Bend. The crescent shaped bait holder, manufacturer unknown, measures approximately 6" by 3 1/2" and is also made to be worn on the belt. The third item is a salmon egg jar holder, maker unknown and made to handily hold the salmon egg jar on your belt. These three items are made of aluminum. The last item is a fishing rod holder that is designed to clamp on the side of a boat, pier, or piece of wood on the side of the shore, manufacturer unknown. Vintage Metal Fishing Pole Rod Holder Stick in Ground or Repurpose for Other Use
When I bought this thing I was told it was used to hold a fishing pole or rod. I can't prove that is what it is for but it looks like it would work for that.also for lots of other things. It is made of very heavy metal with a point on one end.you know what-I think the pictures show you exactly how it is made so please check them out. It is 11 1/4" long by 2 5/8" across the top opening-the stick-in-the-ground part is 8" The finish is a blue green(looks like patinated copper) accented with authentic rust. The screw thing at the top used to clamp the fishing pole works just fine-it does only close just a little over half across the opening. I am sure this would be great if you wanted to use two poles or rods at the same time-or for a lazy fisherman. This listing is for one pole holder only but I do have three others as shown ... morein the last picture in case you want to use a whole bunch of poles at the same time. I used to love to go fishing(way back when) with a cane pole and a bobber-sure would be fun to watch four bobbers bobbing at the same time! If you are not into fishing-stick it in a flower pot or container to show off a favorite garden tool. Garden sign, a small bird house on a dowel, whatever-or stick it smack dab into the ground.
