4-String "Wraprite" Glue Binder For Bamboo Rodmaking
The price will go back up at the end of the year! This auction lot contains a rare gem of a tool- if you're a bamboo rodmaker. And especially if you're a bamboo rodmaker with both a sense of history and an appreciation for beautifully crafted, functional tools. We are offering one of the original twelve"Wraprite" 4-string glue binders made by the Deschutes Rod Company in the early 1990's. To the best of our knowledge, only those twelve were made. The photos show one spool of cotton thread mounted on one of four identical spool holders. With four spools in place(you should be able to locate spools at any office supply store) and threaded, as shown in the one close-up photo, the four strings are knotted in the center of the machine where they meet after coming through the tensioning arms. A glue-slathered rod section is ... moreadvanced through the hollow center tube from one side until it intersects the four strings and the operator begins to turn the handle. The handle spins the large central disc which in turn spins the two side discs. Each side disc hold two of the four spools and tensioning arms. The two side discs counter-rotate, applying each of their two strings, four in all, in a criss-crossing pattern which applies the tension of wrapping from alternate directions, thus evening out the pressure and minimizing blank twist. The tool is ingenious and it is very, very nicely made. It should go without saying that if you purchase this tool to use in your shop, you should set it up and do trial runs with pre-glued blanks before attempting to use it on freshly glued rod sections. This specimen has been kept crated and unused for a decade and is in nearly perfect condition(there are a few tiny spots of oxidization on some steel parts; most parts are anodized aluminum and are unscathed by their time in the crate) There isn't a spec of glue on the tool. The border of the window is textured glass and the foliate pattern is done in a mix of textured and glue chip glass which is a technique where they sand blast the glass first. As photos clearly show. This case is in need of repair. The movement is intact yet dirty. Someone earlier fashioned a pair of lamp sockets to light inside the interior upper area of the case. When the cuckoo was turned forward to call the hours.why? I have NO IDEA. There are two chains and a nice dial with Roman numerals. No hands. RARE VINTAGE HORSE GLUE MELTING POT CAST IRON FANNER MFG CO. CLEVELAND, OHIO
You are bidding on a very rare and collectable HORSE GLUE MELTING POT. This is marked on the top FANNER MFG CO. On the inside of the lid it is marked CLEVELAND. OHIO. The pot is a two piece boiler which was used by heating water inside the double boiler and melting whatever was inside the inner pot- usually horse glue pellets to be used in a carpenter shop or for other manufacturing shop use. This is a CAST IRON POT which is in very good overall condition. It does have some rust inside the pot where the water was held. This pot measures about 3-1/4" high and 3" wide. This is a rare. Rare find and if you can find another one, it will likely be selling for about $100. I am starting this one very low and I know it will move up as people see it. RARE and UNUSUAL / EARLY Mucilage (glue) Bottle looks like inkwell. 1851 patent
Offering a very different and old mucilage bottle. 3" tall with a 3" diameter. Clear glass with a metal screw top. A glass piece fits through a hole in the cap and into the bottle. This glass dabber screws down into the bottle for a snug fit. Unscrew to use. So the metal top has screw threads to hold the base to the metal cap and screw threads to keep the glass dabber from falling out. glass dabber also has screw threads) The glue dabber is missing its brush. Otherwise the piece is in suberb condition. Metal top reads: Drapers Patd Jan 18.1851 Nice clean clear glass- no problems. No dissapointment here Glass sides are fluted. Bottom is smooth. Antique Post Office Department Glue Bottle Glue Jar Glue Pot With Brush
This is an old Post Office Department Glue Bottle& Brush. It would have been in the customer lobby for use in sealing envelopes and packages. It stands about 4 1/2" tall(to the top of the lid handle) The lid is wood that was painted black. The brush is still intact. But is missing about 1/8 of the bristles, probably due to age. The glue jar measures 3" tall and is about 3 1/2" in diameter at the widest point. The jar is heavy glass and it does have some waves in the glass and seam marks on each side because of age. There is no marking on the bottle at all. This is a great piece, would be great for the post office collector.

Nice Old Antique Primitive 1883 S M Bixby, Ink, Glue or Shoe Polish? Wide Mouth
Here's an interesting old or antique bottle in a light blue color with an embossed patent date of 1883. It has embossed markings that include the number"25" Patented" and as shown. On the bottom the maker name is embossed, S. M. Bixby& Co. The bottle has a very nice simple or primitive appearance with bubbles, stretch marks, etc. The bottle is relatively clean though some bottle enthusiasts might elect for more fine cleaning. The outside has light scuffing to the finish in some areas as one might expect. Our guess is this is an ink bottle but it probably could have been glue, or shoe polish or similar. There is probably more info available on the internet. The bottle has a relatively wide mouth, stands about 4 inches tall and is about 2.5 inches in diameter at the bottom with a tapered shape. That's about it. The ... morepictures should be helpful to those having interest. We'll start this interesting antique bottle low so enjoy the auction. We'll pack this carefully. Vintage Antique Store Sign - Gold Leaf Glue Chipped Glass
Thanks for visiting. Up for auction is a rare vintage MH Fishman Co. Inc. glass sign. These signs were used where a transom window would be over double doors entering the store. It is the same on both sides(pictures of both sides shown) The technique used here is glue chipped with Gold Leaf on the reverse of the glass.the part of the glass that looks like ripply foil is actually where the glue chipping process tears away some of the glass and this is the design you see in the letters. It is then backed up with Gold Leaf. The size is- 72 1/2" x 13 1/2" x 1 3/4" The two pieces of glass are set back to back in between the wood frame. not sure of wood type) It is hard to get great pictures of glass signs. But this sign is beautiful. We have had it hanging in our house for over 20 years and have decided to let someone else enjoy ... moreit. Because of the weight and it being fragile.
