Vintage Guild Madeira A-3 Acoustic Guitar
623 Guitars Vintage Guild Madeira A-3 Acoustic Guitar Page Click Images To Enlarge Madeira Guitars used to be Guilds import brand in the early‘70s to the early‘80s. Just like Epiphone is to Gibson now. They were first made in Japan with USA parts then were made in Korea with USA parts by Samick. Most agree that the Japan models are somehow superior in sound and quality) This guitar is in great condition. I would say a solid 8.5 out of 10. There are a few light dings on the body. But nothing bad. There is really no buckle rash on the back, and the typical strum marks on the pick-guard. The frets are in great condition with very little wear. Pictures#13.14 and#15 show a crack in the clearcoat finish around the neck where it meets the body. This was verified as a crack in the finish only by the guitar shop. All the internal bracing is tight ... moreand intact. There is also zero lifting of the bridge. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. The fretboard was cleaned and conditioned and the frets were polished. A fresh set of.010 gage strings were also installed. The tuners are tight with no loose or missing screws. The chrome is in very good condition. The truss rod. Accessed through the sound hole woks smoothly and the neck is straight. The original nut had a chip in it. So I replaced it with a new Graph Tech Tusq nut. Original chip board case is included! Dating the Madeira is somewhat of an enigma. I’ve had 3 of them and have never found a serial number database. I believe this is a mid to late'70's guitar. I do know that the very earliest ones in 1972 until@ 1974 had flat top headstock. After that. They were rounded like mine. I also know that the A-12A 12 string I also have for sale were originally purchased together. I’ve seen them with. And without adjustable bridges too. I’ve also read that the“Oval Label” guitars were made in Japan. And then moved to Korea where the label shape was changed. Altogether– it’s still a mystery to me. There is one common denominator to all of this– these guitars sound

This guitar has dual humbuckers to get that thick full sound and has a coil tap to split the the humbuckers and get that Fender single coil sound. Very versatile guitar. Cool old MIJ Madeira EG-250 by Guild. This was Guild's MIJ line of guitars back"in the day" This guitar was recently completely gone thru to get it back into playing shape. Tuners replaced with vintage MIJ tuners 24 fret fretboard cleaned and oiled with raw linseed oil Pots and switched cleaned and lubed with de-oxit. Input jack replaced with a genuine Switchcraft unit Brass bridge saddles and bridge removed. Cleaned and polished New strings and a complete sut-up. Tone caps replaced with Vitamin Q.022 This guitar plays and sounds great. The bottom two controls are volume and top two are tone. Mini toggle switches are phase and coil tap. Typical of the 70's style. Pickups are either Maxxon or maybe Dimarzio. I did not remove them Cosmetically. It is very good. Most beautiful tablecloth I have ever seen. Has one flaw. about the size of a nickle"patch" in the center oval design. 2nd picture. I think maybe it was a frayed spot that was repaired before it became a hole. Perhaps by the original maker or at a later date. I can't really tell. on a dark color it will show more than on a lighter background. 122" long and 65" wide. I think it is banquet size I think it is all hand stitched and appliqued. The workmanship is amazing. At my age I have no use for it. So I hope someone younger will love it and use it. Would be great for a Wedding party.

VINTAGE MADEIRA (GUILD) ACOUSTIC GUITAR, P500, 3-PIECE BACK, MARTIN D-35 STYLE
Here is a super nice vintage MADEIRA acoustic 6-strings guitar. The model number is P500. A very rare Madeira model. This guitar is in very good condition, The soundboard is spruce and the back and sides are maple. The back has three pieces, similar to Marin D-35. The neck is mahogany. The fretboard and the bridge are rosewood. This guitar is well taken care of. The neck is butted very well to the body. No sign of separation at all. The bridge is solidly attached to the top, no sign of lifting whatsoever. The body is in superb condition, for guitar that is this vintage. There are minor scratches and nicks, but overall in very good condition. The pictures did not capture all the scratches, but they are there. The binding has beautiful tortoise finish, while the rosette has abalone finish. The headstock is very nice and is inlaid with Madeira ... morelogo in abalone. The machine heads are gold plated and closed type. The action is low to medium(to my taste) If you want the action lowered. Please let me know and I can have it done for you for free, prior to shipping. There is plenty of saddle to shave to lower the action. This guitar projects well with excellent tone and long sustain. I am not sure where and when this beautiful guitar was made. But I think it was made in Japan either in the 70's or early 80's. Being a vintage guitar. It has minor scratches and nicks, but hard to capture all of them in pictures. Please conduct research about Madeira guitars, particularly this model, prior to making an offer or buying the guitar.
