ABUMATIC 170 made in 1973 series no:730903 this is a n excellent reel in great condition. And I have recently given it a tho rough service. anti-reverse and synchro drag working perfectly and ge ars very smooth-a pleasure to fish wi th! great reel for Salmon. Pike, Bass, and synchro drag makes it very easy to play big fish as one half turn of handle backwards gives you minimum dra g. But still tight control of line VASTLY superior to modern versions. Which DO NOT HAVE SYNCHRO DRAG or brass gears do not really want to sell this reel. As they don't come much better than this one, but have to"as needs must" will sell worldwide

A few sections have light surface rust. Eyelets look good with a little bit of slight surface rust. Bag looks to be in very good condition. Zipper works. Lined. No holes seen in bag. This is an Abu Abumatic serial no: 020700 made in 1970-when I got this reel. The original orange metallic cowling was scratched in several places, so I decided to sand it down, with the intention of re-spraying-when I got to the chrome after HOURS AND HOURS of work. I thought it was such a good improvement on the original and so elegant, I decided to leave it! however you can still clearly see"Abumatic 120 SVANGSTA" on cowling. Although it is hard to see on photos-at least now all you have to do is polish the chrome! and not worry about scratching the original. Which to be honest was not a great colour? anyway. The reel has been fully serviced and synchro-drag working perfectly, and nobody has"nicked" the anti-reverse dog out of this one at least! if you need to know about synchro-drag please ask me in questions-it is ... morethe most amazing drag systems of all time.
