There are just a very few small nicks. I have tested the reel on the bench and everything appears to funtion correctly. It cranks smooth. The spool spins freely, and the drag feels strong. This a custom ported and anodized Abu Garcia wiffle spool. It will fit all 5000 sized reels that use ultra-cast(separate spool and axle) I take a OEM Abu Garcia wiffle spool and added extra porting to reduce the weight 15% over stock then have them re-anodized satin black. They look good and perform even better! For those that don't know. Reducing the rotating mass(the weight of the spool and fishing line together) increases casting performance. ABU Garcia Ambassadeur 5500 Brown 1976 in box vintage very good cond.
This brown. Vintage Garcia ABU Ambassadeur Casting Reel was manufactured in Sweden in 1976, according to the lot number on the reel. This reel comes with the original box and book. The box says the following about this reel: Fast retrieve: Large capacity spool. Dual-grip power handles. Hand honed floating bushings. Two sets of brakes-centrifugal and mechanical for backlash control. This reel belonged to my dad who passed away 13 years ago. It was stored securely with his other fishing gear in one of his tackle boxes. He didn't do a great deal of fishing, so that's probably why it is in such good shape.

This is a custom made"light" weight frame in designed for classic Ambassadeur 5000C. 5500, and 5500C models engineered by Simon Shimomura, known as Mr. Ambassadeur. This light weight frame were made from aluminum innerplates beautiuly buffed and carefully plated in chrome. Weight comparison: Simon's light weight frame: 65g(2 1/4oz) vs. Regular brass frame: 97g(3 3/8oz) Usually light weight frames of this kind come with anodized aluminum innerplate that appear dull looking. This custom frame is so shinny as you can see. ABU factory has provided a special honorable ID in its foot number. As you can imagine SS stands for Simon Shimomura. I have 5 sets for sale for now.
