UMCO Vintage 3 Tackle boxes, P - 9 & 10 (2 sided) 20 w/ tackle lures Estate Find
~~UMCO LOT OF THREE TACKLE BOXES W/ FISHING TACKLE ~~ Up for Auction I have a lot of three UMCO Tackle boxes. First There is one Model# P-9. Which is two sided and has one plastic storage insert and is 6 1/2" long, 3 1/2" wide and 2 1/4" tall with rounded corners. Second there is one Model# 10 which is also two sided with a plastic insert on each side and is about 9" long, 4" wide and 2" tall. Third there is one Model#20 which is 14 3/4" long, 5" tall and 5" wide and has an area to hold the#10 and has room to hold the# P-9. They seem to be in good condition, there are some scratches and few small dents on sides due to use, but overall good condition. There is tackle in each one, some lures, weights, line, hooks, etc. This set is from a recent estate sale, to be honest I dont know much about fishing ... moretackle, so what you see is what you get. I am very reluctant to sell this tackle box. I have 2 inherited tackle boxes from this time period. Full of old wooden lures. This box would be a perfect addition to store them in. but I cannot keep everything I like. This tackle box is in excellent condition. It has no dents or cracks. It is made of aluminum therefore light for it's size. This was the advertised benefits used in the 1950's ad campaigns. I am going to include some ads I found online. So the image quality is not the best but it shows the tackle box as it was advertised in 1959. This tackle box seems identical to the"Pelican" but this is the"Mascot" I believe the difference is the aluminum versus steel. But I am not an expert on anything. unless I am arguing with my wife. Then I am an expert on all things known to man. I put pictures of the 2 ads ... morehere in this ad for you to look at. I also had a free thinking moment, and wanted to see what $10(original cost) in 1959 would be in 2014. I was amazed that it was $80! I had to take a pic of that as well. So buying this box in 1959 for $10 was not a trivial expense. in my humble opinion. These tackle boxes came in 4 models. 2 and 3 tray models. In 15 and 19 inch widths. This is the 15 inch 3 tray model. The number in the lid is CO 155AL. You will see ads for the CO 155s, the AL added must be the aluminum build. another opinion of mine. 2 trays open back when the lid is opened and the top tray is manually opened back to expose the middle tray. The box has not dents. The inner trays are excellent, the plastic compartments are also excellent. While I had so much free time on my hands last night. I wondered what the"Kits" meant in the"Kennedy Kits" This was a tackle box, not for kits. Sooo, I began a 4 hour quest to find the answer. I found a forum where they discussed this topic. This is a great vintage aluminum tackle box. Hinges great shape, latches great shape. It was made by Kennedy Manuf. Co, Van West, Ohio, Made in USA. It has a label inside- Kennedy Kits- Style No 1118-AL. It has one rivet out of bottom tray, see pic 5, but does not hamper the opening or closing of this box. It is rare- it has three tiers. It measures 18" long x 10" wide x 12 1/2" tall closed. It measures 34" wide open, 3 tier shelves, 8 lbs. Selling this tackle box as found, can be cleaned, refurbished into a gorgeous piece- could possibly be used as light tool box. Great collectible in great condition.

All I have done is. Wipe off a layer of dust and grime. It may have had a key. But it is missing. It is 15” long. 6.5” tall, and 6.5” deep. It weighs 2.5 pounds. Made in the USA.
