Vintage RARE Antique Pre- HEDDON OUTING ELKHART Fishing Tackle Box NICE SURVIVOR
VINTAGE ANTIQUE HEDDON TACKLE BOX- A real nice survivor that still has a lot of life left. This is a high quality item that has survived in great shape. I swear you can smell the 6/12 mosquito oil on this thing! I have been told by an expert that this box dates back to pre-1928. It was called the HEDDON OUTING HANDY BOX. And is quite rare in this condition. Everything works except the right hand latch has lost its spring action. However the lid stays closed with the other 2 doing the job just fine. The key was probably left on the seat of some old wood fishing boat years ago. The triple hinged lid opens nicely to display 2 large shelves. It measures 16" x 16" open and 7" x 16" closed. The drawer hinges also work very nicely. It has plenty of army green patina from many fishing trips. Who knows where this thing has been. ... moreThere is very little if any rust. The Heddon logo decal is just barely there but visable(see photo) Walking with this in hand you notice how very comfortable the handle is. It is all metal and weighs 7lbs 5oz. It's clean and ready to use. This is nice for display but if you are a fisherman its a stand-out conversation piece. Shipping weight 9 lbs.

If I compare this tacklebox to other antique fishing tackle boxes manufactured by Master Metal Products Inc. from the 1940s and 1950s Art Deco era on a scale from 1 to 10 this tacklebox would fall into between a six and a seven. With most tackle boxes from this time era either missing the collapsing lure tray or the exterior locking mechanisms. This tackle box is not missing anything except for the key to the exterior locking mechanism. As far as paint goes. With the exception of the bottom this tackle box has retained 80-90% of the paint and please note the paint is original. This is a very nice old Hoff"s leather tackle box with a pat. date of March 27 1883. It has the original key to the lock and it works. There is a leather and canvas strap that goes around loops on the side of the tackle box. The box has two removeable trays. One with brass handles. The trays are solid mahogany with very small dovetails and are lined with felt. The inside lid of the box is lined with a red velvet type of material. The box measures 11 1/2" wide x 8 1/4" high x 8" deep. Overall in very nice original condition, a few minor blemishes on the leather but considering it's age I would say this is an excellent example. The front lock has a folding cover to cover the key hole when the key is not inserted to keep out dirt. Here for your consideration is an Antique. Fresh from Auction in Northern Wisconsin. Told by Sellers that Grandfather built it in the early 1900's. Replaced the hinges in the 40's, Box is in great condition for age. Hasn't been cleaned just as found, measures 12'x 8 1/2'x 5 1/2' has great patina. Leather handle is missing a piece. 3 unusual latches on front, would make a awesome display piece for lures and fishing items. Use photos provided to judge condition.
