This is a vintage Three Tray Union Steel solid steel Tackle Box in very nice condition. Style of handle and latch points to vintage. Opens from the front with 3 plastic trays. 23 stationary compartments, a side compartment for line or reels with plenty of room in the other side of the bottom. Closes tight and secure with original latch. The handle is high impact white plastic and very clean. The sticker has"Union 5 Year Guarantee" on it and there is an imprinted serial number. The box does have some scuffs and scratches on the bottom mostly. The trays are overall clean with some minor stains. No worm burns or cracks. Very solidly constructed. Dimensions of box are 7 in. This vintage tackle box came from an estate sale in Des Moines IA. It does have a few issues that are pointed out in the photos toward the end. Problems are on the inside trays where the rivets have come out. Previous owner has put a few small bolts and nuts in a couple but there are a couple with nothing in them as you can see as well. This makes the box rather tricky to get closed correctly. Trays will need to have new rivets put in to bring it back to fully operational condition. External body of the box is in fair shape. Probably from the 1940's to 1950's, used, but in very good condition with a few paint scrapes primarily on the bottom. One corner and near the spill proof latch and two small dents in the top front rib. The top tray plastic insert is missing. See pictures. Front has part of original paper label. Measures approximately 14" long by 7" high by 7" wide. And made of heavy gauge steel with a single large stainless steel spill proof latch and a comfortable white plastic handle. Two. Vintage, used, metal, JC Higgins& unbranded, fishing, tackle boxes, storage containers. These items show overall wear including scratches. Discoloration, missing paint, staining, surface rust found, heavy rust to the brown JC Higgins box, and there are slight bends and dents to the metal of both bodies; both latches still work. We were told that the unbranded tackle box is a Union but we are not sure of this. Neat Vintage Union Tackle Box with spill proof chrome latch and three shelves/ trays that fold out for access. This is a nice heavy box that will hold plenty and measures appx. 19x 7.5 x 7. All metal construction with a plastic handle and all joints open and close as they should. Does have some surface wear that is shown in the pictures.
