J. K. Fisher Custom Built Surf Rod, great rod for Newell, Abu or....
J. K. Fisher is 10'4" total length. It's wrapped conventional. Rated 2 to 6oz.w/8 Fuji sic guides, AAA ring cork handle, graphite Fuji trigger reel seat. It was re-wrapped/re-built and extended 4" by Mike at M&D Tackle near the Ditch/ Cape Cod Canal. The distance from the butt to the trigger is about 23.75" The cork butt, guides and wraps are all in good shape. The blank is good. The only minus is that the glossy finish coat on the blank is about gone. I had this matched up with both a Newell P229 and an Abu 7000 Big Game. Great surf or jetty stick, plugs, pencils, bucktails for stripers. I simply have too many rods and have an older Lamiglas which is pretty similar in action and ratings. This is too long to ship. You're bidding on a Nice 2 Piece Custom made Lamiglas Surf Spinning Rod in great shape for mechanics and appearance. Judging from the guides and reel seat and handle. It doesn’t look like it has ever been used in salt water or if it has, you can’t tell it. It was custom made from a prominent rod builder in Santa Cruz, CA and has seven excellent guides and wraps. The finish is great with just a little bit of white specking on the butt section(you will hardly notice) and, as you can see, the original owner did not wish to keep his name on the rod, so the finish has been removed to remove his name(see pictures) This is only cosmetic of course and does not affect the rod in any way. The rod measures 11 feet and 3 inches long when assembled and is ready to catch the big ones. I do not know the line rating, but I would describe the rod as medium ... moreto medium heavy action. Hello. Unfortunately I have to let this Awesome Custom CTS Surf rod go. This is the Ferrari of Long distance Surf Fishing rods. I spared no expense when I had this rod made(over 700 dollars and 200 to have it rebuilt so over 900 total) I actually had it built once and did not like it so I sent it to another rod builder to have him rebuild it and it came out WONDERFUL the only thing is when it was rebuilt some of the guides were removed and re-spaced for ultimate distance and there was some paint loss(view photos) due to the color of the rod it is barely noticeable unless you are really close to the rod(6 inches? Does NOT effect anything! The rod is made with ALL Fuji lowrider distance guides And was built on the 13' 6" 4-8oz CTS S8 surf series rod blank. It also has x shrink wrap grips(super light weight) and a Perfection aluminum ... morereel seat which I LOVE! Extremely strong you never have to worry about this breaking. ONLY reason for the sale is because I just purchased a KAYAK and I need much much smaller rods. Vintage& classic. Two-piece CUSTOM SURF SPINNING ROD of nine& one half(9 1/2) feet OAL, still in very good overall condition, from back in the 1990s we'd guess based on style& materials used. Two-piece Custom Surf Rod measures approx. 118 1/2" OAL when assembled, with 60" upper section slip-fitting into joint on the 62" lower section of course. The Black rubber"snub" butt on bottom of the 25" grip& reel seat section features black, EVA Foam grips of approx. 12" 6" with 5 1/2" anodized alloy reel seat in between. Reel seat has alloy reel foot"shoes" and opens to hold most any large Spin Reel foot up to about 3 1/2" OAL with twin locking rings below for secure hold. The Rod itself is composed of hollow, brown fiberglass of full 1" dia. above the foregrip and ... moretapering to approx. 1/8" dia. at tip. Probbaly built on a vintage Fenwick blank of the era, this Surf Rod was designed to offer great strength& casting distance without the extra weight of solid glass to tire you out when surf casting and standing in the shore break all day after Stripers and/or Blues.See Photos) Guides are white ceramic rings on double-side, A-frame braced feet, with orange wraps having yellow& brown accents on chocolate brown surface finish. Our guess is that this big, tall Surf Rod is a Medium Heavy Action designed for about 15 to 30 Lb test line, though of course your guess is as good as ours there!Condition is still very good overall of course, with NO cracks, dings, dents, splits, corrosion, or other"problems" visible. Foam grips are comfortable and in 99% condition still, reel seat functions as it should, and the ring guides and wraps are 99.9% as well. The Eye Loops are all present and the threading is excellent vintage condition with minor finish cracking. 14 1/4" long on the first solid Cork Grip handle and the second Cork will measure 4" Long. Both are also in Excellent Condition with no holes or dents. Minor ware none missing. A metal loop is attached for holding the hook. There is a Rod seat locking with no stamping It's a super cool piece and a rare find. On the side of the rod across is marked or stamped in Black- HERTER'S RH953 This Rod showing moderate overall wear with both pieces in Excellent Condition with no splits. Cracks or Repairs– still retains the shiny luster and color with minor fine varnish cracks due to age. All wraps are solid and complete. All guides. Tip tops, ferrules, hook keeper, winding check and butt cap are in very fine condition. Reel seat works perfectly, with nice hardware. Comes with the original Brown cloth bag. The gentleman who gave me this rod sveral years back stated it was rated for 4-12oz easy and could go higher too. It is a very heavy heavy surf rod. Offered for sell. I have a Fantastic pieces. This was my fathers and i dont know a ton about it. It looks to be custom so some of the specs unless its on the pole i wont know. but youll be getting a Calstar Rod measureing 7ft 7 inches with Fuji Grips and Aftco#51 guides and a Aftco#18 on the tip. Pole looks to be in great condition. I dont know the test weight but by the way its setup id say its at lest 50-100lb. But again i dont have a way to confirm it. The Reel is a Penn 113H Special senator 4/0 with a gold Tiburon Frame. Really a beuatiful pole and reel. i didnt clean it up for the photos so you should be able to shine it right back up. Vintage Lamiglass 11 1/2' custom surf rod and Vintage Crack 300 Reel
Rod and Reel At auction is a matched Lamiglass custom 11 1/2’ surf rod with a very rare vintage Crack 300 reel with manual pickup bail. I bought the custom rod locally and the reel from Johnny’s Tackle shop in Montauk in the early 70’s and used them at Montauk Point to fish for striped bass for several years. I moved a few years later and both the rod and reel were put in storage. The one-piece rod is in good shape. Cork grip and all the ferrules are intact. Similar vintage Lamiglass rods have sold on eBay for $100 and up. The reel is a classic French made. Stainless steel and shows minor wear and tear. It still functions perfectly and smoothly as it was well lubricated. It has a solid drag, a rare manual pickup, which I found more sensitive than a standard bail and a sharp anti-reverse clicker. The reel is loaded with Ande 15 pound mono-film ... moreline and there is a spare spool that allows you to quickly change to a different test line. It includes the original box and instructions and is truly an exceptional collector’s piece that you can still use to fish with. One similar Crack reel alone recently sold on eBay for $203. I would like to sell them as a complete set and have you pick them up in Norwalk CT rather than try to ship. As the rod at 11 1/2' is considered oversize and is too costly to ship. JULIUS VOM HOFE Antique Reel manufactured October 8. 1889 Patent November 17th. 1885 with custom made surfcasting rod- sectioned hardwood and metal from the estate of a family's Summer home circa 1900 in Boothbay Harbor. Maine each interlocking section approx. 35" long Still has old line intact on reel The Julius vom Hofe Company was established in 1857. That was 10 years before his brother Edward established his business. He received several patents and became one of the most prolific reel makers. The first Julius vom Hofe patent was on November 26. 1867. It was for the bridge over the drive gear inside the reel. His next patent was for the reel end plates being made of hard rubber with metal protective bands. This patent was granted on November 17, 1885. The other common patent date seen on his reels is October 8, 1889. This was ... morefor a rear spool bearing steel pivot and washer. Julius was one of the most prolific reel designers with 9 patents granted to him. One of his most important patents was granted on March 21, 1911 for the B-Ocean star drag. His last patent was granted on May 20, 1924 for a reduced cost reel. His models range from the highest quality solid nickel silver(German silver) reels to less expensive nickel plated brass and hard rubber reels. All of his reels are sought by collectors. His earliest pre-patent date reels were the ball handle style and had a distinctive clover leaf logo stamped in the reel's head plate. Used Lamiglas fiberglass custom built fishing rod. LGC-SB1363M2-Tan 11' 4" 2PC, tip 12.0, butt 1.025, extra fast action, medium power, Not sure what the line wt or lure wt is. I throw 6 oz and use 17lb line with this rod. The rod has been cut down to 11' 2" so one inch off butt and top half, The rod has been rebuilt to like new condition, it has all new Fuji SIC gun smoke titanium coated cast guides 9 total, guides measure#30, 25, 20, 3- 16, and 3-12, it has a matching tip top#12-11, it has a new 7 1/2" butt wrap metallic white with metallic lime green and nylon black double diamond pattern, shark decal, it has new 8" cork wrap fore grip, rear cork is in good condition and didn't need replacing, new butt cap, Fuji#24 reel seat silver hood was also not replaced, the rod halves measure butt 5' 8 3/8" ... moreand the top 5' 9 1/4" the rear cork handle measures 18 1/2" from butt to the bottom of the reel seat, there are no marks to indicate that this is a Lamiglas. I am the builder and purchased this blank new and have proof. There are no scuff marks or scratches on the blank. It does show some signs of use at the ferrule. This is from my personal collection. The rod has been rebuilt to like new condition. It does show some signs of use. It has Fuji SIC gun smoke titanium coated cast guides that are in great condition, the guides do show some signs of use) 8 total, guides sizes are#30, 25, 20, and 5- 16, It has a matching HD tip top#16-11, that have all been rewrapped, It has a new 10" butt wrap Metallic blue with metallic white, nylon black and Hologram orange Double Diamond pattern, the rear handle and fore grip have been rewrapped with new cork, the rear handle measures 23" from butt to the bottom of reel seat, the fore grip measures 8" also has Drum decal, the#24 Fuji reel seat silver hood was not ... morereplaced and is in great condition, the blank halves measure butt half 4' 10" and the top half measures 7' 6 1/4" If you have any questions please ask. Vintage Octagon Surf Rod Lot of 2 - King Fisher - Ply Flex Custom
You are looking at a lot of two vintage octagon surf or sea rods. Rod number one is a Ply-Flex custom rod made by Sportsman Accessories Inc. of New York and it is just under 5' long. It is fiberglass with a custom turned wooden grip that sports an aluminum reel clamp towards the top. The bottom has a hard rubber bulb for protection and there are three eyelets up the rod. The manufacturer sticker is on the rod but unfortunately there is no number for the piece. It is in very good condition with just a spot or two of paint loss. Rod number two is a two piece surf rod that is 5' 6" long and also has a wooden grip with an aluminum reel clamp. This rod has two eyelets up the rod and is heavier than the previous. This rod is marked"Kingfisher" on the sticker and the reel deck. Again there is no number. This rod is in very ... moregood shape except for the metal sleeve that connects the two pieces. It has a crack in the aluminum on both sides(See Photo) This is a great rod for the deep sea angler it you can repair the sleeve. I don't believe the rod is cracked underneath. But I have not removed the aluminum. Please look at the pictures and ask questions before you bid as this lot is being sold AS-IS. And no returns will be accepted. I was using this rod off beach throwing 5-6 oz sinker plus bunker chunk. Overall great rod to have. No wrapping loss. Minor spots of corrosion to some of the metal eyes but should clean off well. Julius vom Hofe Vintage Saltwater Reel with Custom Made Surf Casting Rod c.1920
JULIUS VOM HOFE Antique Reel stamped October 8. 1889 Patent November 17th. 1885 with custom made surfcasting rod- sectioned hardwood and metal from the estate of a family's Summer home circa 1920 in Boothbay Harbor. Maine each interlocking section approx. 35" long Still has old line intact on reel The Julius vom Hofe Company was established in 1857. That was 10 years before his brother Edward established his business. He received several patents and became one of the most prolific reel makers. The first Julius vom Hofe patent was on November 26. 1867. It was for the bridge over the drive gear inside the reel. His next patent was for the reel end plates being made of hard rubber with metal protective bands. This patent was granted on November 17, 1885. The other common patent date seen on his reels is October 8, 1889. This was for ... morea rear spool bearing steel pivot and washer. Julius was one of the most prolific reel designers with 9 patents granted to him. One of his most important patents was granted on March 21, 1911 for the B-Ocean star drag. His last patent was granted on May 20, 1924 for a reduced cost reel. His models range from the highest quality solid nickel silver(German silver) reels to less expensive nickel plated brass and hard rubber reels. All of his reels are sought by collectors. His earliest pre-patent date reels were the ball handle style and had a distinctive clover leaf logo stamped in the reel's head plate. Julius vom Hofe made reels for a number of Sporting Goods dealers and marked them with his name and that of the company. This included companies like Thos. J. Conroy in NY. Abbey& Imbrie in NY and von Lengerke& Detmold in NY.
