Penn Power Mag 980 Saltwater Surf Casting Fishing Reel.
Penn Power Mag 980. All features of this reel are smooth and tight. Nice magnetic cast control with high power neodymium magnet. Clicker is loud. Drag is smooth. Line out is smooth. Reel has been completely taken down. Cleaned, greased and lubed. See pictures. Does have an issue: I broke a left side plate screw off in the front spacer. Impossible to drill out and Penn doesn't make these spacers anymore so it's missing a screw. The case is still nice and tight with zero movement but it is missing the screw. Does not affect function. All internal metal parts have a thin layer of reel grease. Gears have a little more liberal layer of reel grease, all case screws lightly coated with reel grease to ensure easy removal in the future. Vintage R.L. Winston Bamboo Surf Casting Rod 12 feet. Specially Made#801(see pictures) Looks like it was never used, ABSOLUTELY Beautiful Rod. Perfect Condition. 2 pieces, 6 ft each that are completely straight. The bamboo at the base of the rod is over 5/8 of an inch thick. The wraps and the finish on this rod are pristine. As you know R.L. Winston makes bamboo fly rods, but upon special request they made custom rods for customers. This could conceivably be a"one-of-a-kind" rod. The rod says"12 feet Fishfinder" see picture) it also says"Spc#801" which I assume means Special 801. Based on the guides, this is a casting rod, not a spinning rod. This is an awesome reel.Even the sound it puts out makes you want to be fishing! Its really smooth and well taken care of. This appears to be made from brass.Ir reads Flueger The next line reads"Trade Mark" with an etching of an elephant between the two words.Next it says Oceanic/Free Spool/Surf Cast/ patents pending It is in very good condition except the one side that has a few cracks in it. They don't appear to interfere with its use at all. The reel is very sturdy This area of the reel is also reinforced with screws in it.so I don't see it as it being a problem.There are no flaws on the reel other than the mentioned.

You can see it was used in salt water, there is some bluish-green scaling on the inside of the reel where the fish line was, but it is minimal. Someone took some care of this reel. Another Great Estate Find For Your Bidding Pleasure! Up for bid we have a vintage Pflueger Akerite Surf Casting Reel manufactured in Akron Ohio. What a find to acquire one of these with the original box. Manual, adjusting tools all together after all those years. The tools are even marked Pflueger and the original packet of extra washers is with the reel. The reel is a semi auto-free spool-star drag reel with the Pflueger micro adjustable feature. The Gear in Mesh ration is 2 1/3 to 1. It has a mechanical thumber and as described on the box and manual the reel is manufactured of bakelite, polished diamolite on nickel silver. The drag works well and the the reel cranks smoothly so it should be good to go fishing with after installing some new line or will look great in your collection. As you can see in the pictures it is a used reel with ... moresome wear and tear that comes with normal use but overall is in good condition especially considering it's age. There is a little oxidation and some light corrosion here and there which is hard to see in the pictures but a good cleaning will make this reel look great! The box is complete and in shabby chic condition but the fact it is with the reel after all these years tells the care the original owner took of his things and we wanted to include it with the reel.
