Vintage R.L. Winston Bamboo Surf Casting Rod 12 feet. Specially Made#801(see pictures) Looks like it was never used, ABSOLUTELY Beautiful Rod. Perfect Condition. 2 pieces, 6 ft each that are completely straight. The bamboo at the base of the rod is over 5/8 of an inch thick. The wraps and the finish on this rod are pristine. As you know R.L. Winston makes bamboo fly rods, but upon special request they made custom rods for customers. This could conceivably be a"one-of-a-kind" rod. The rod says"12 feet Fishfinder" see picture) it also says"Spc#801" which I assume means Special 801. Based on the guides, this is a casting rod, not a spinning rod. Bamboo Spinning Rod. 12.5' Surf Casting Length.
Unusual bamboo spinning rod of unknown origin. 12.5' overall so probably an early surf casting rod. Tip section is darker and possibly impregnated for strength and longevity. Ferrules fit and have no cracks. All wraps are tight. Cork is good. Nice solid reel seat. All 15 guides are good. All three sections are straight. Only minus can find is a couple of barely visible hairline separations at the very stout base of section 2. Which have been finished over and seem to have no effect. If they ever grow, a few intermediary wraps might be in order. Awhile back I mounted a spinning reel and tried some retro casting from the beach.the rod works fine and casts about as far as any other surf rod.

Vintage MAYFLOWER Split Bamboo 6' Surf Casting Rod- excellent condition! Wonderful vintage split bamboo surf casting rod in great shape. Measures 6'2" long. No cracks or breaks. Looks like it can be used today! Chrome guides and seat in great shape. It has the Mayflower decal intact. The black wooden handle is in nice shape as well. It is a 2 pc. rod and it goes together and comes apart easily. The thread whipping that holds the guides on is all solid with no thread loss or unwinding. The guides are all tight. A beautiful rod for the vintage collector to use or display.

Fishing Rod Building Wrapping Lathe Fly Rods, Spinning Surf Boat Casting Rods
This auction is for a Professional level Rod Builders Lathe and Power Wrapper. I don't know what make it is. There are no marks anywhere on it to indicate the maker. That being said I must emphasize that this is a very well made professional grade piece of equipment. The lathe chuck is adjustable and can be removed to allow different chuck or faceplate to be mounted. The motor runs smoothly and all parts function well. Please look closely, what you see is what you get. I don't know what all the parts do and if everything is complete. The second set of ways(with the thread tensioner) has two additional mounting attachment stanchions that appear to be missing something: most likely accessory components( perhaps additional thread tensioners for doing multiple color wraps or woven patterns) This machine is complete as far as having everything ... morenecessary to build all but the most complex wrapped rod. The overall length of each section is 48" long. Condition is good and works perfectly. There is a bit of surface rust on chuck( which works smoothly) and numerous drip spots of laquer on the lathe ways. You will need a new drive belt( a large"O" Ring works well. Tho motor runs real well but I don't know what the gearing speeds are since I have never used this machine. The Motor is a Dayton(Granger) and is marked 5000 rpm which seem a bit fast to me. You may want to gear this down or replace it with a slower motor. For shipping purposes I will dismantle it so it will fit in the smallest box possible to keep shipping cost down. You are bidding on a vintage 8 1/2' Shakespeare 2 piece spinning rod made in the USA. This rod is in good condition with a few scratches on the blank. The guides and wraps are in good condition. The tip top guide has some corrosion as seen in the pictures. The cork on the handle is in very good condition. There are a few light scratches on the aluminum on the handle. Fenwick Surf Casting experimenta rod - Once in a lifetime find for collectors
Overall in good condition with some minor blemishes but the rubber grips are in very good condition. The guides are in very good condition. Back in the 70's I had a friend that worked for Fenwick in Westminster. CA. where the made all of their fishing rods except for the Blackhawk line. Every month they would make experimental blanks at their Bainbridge Island plant and sent them to Westminster where they would make 5 of them and run them through torture test and stress test. Rod's not used up in the test before production got destroyed as they did not want them out in the general public. My friend was able to get one of these rods and gave it to me but it has sat in the garage for 30 years and never been used. If you are a collector of Fenwick or any fishing rods. Getting your hands on an experimental or prototype rod is the top ... moreof your game. Rod is a 10' Fiberglass, nylon guides and it overall good to very good condition for it's age. I would take it fishing tomorrow is I wanted to. Beautiful Hexagonal South Bend Split Cane Bamboo surfcasting rod with vintage Pflueger 1888 Interocean surfcast reel. Pole is 5'8" 2 piece with reversed eyelets in middle. Has rubber gromett on bottom that has some cracking in rubber. but otherwise the pole and reel are in excellent condition. Wooden handle on reel-possibly from 1950's. HERE'S A VERY.VERY,OLD ONE PIECE SURF CASTING BAMBOO ROD. IT'S 72" LONG. IT'S DIAMETER IS ABOUT THE SIZE OF A BIG MARBLE AT THE HAND GRIP, AND ABOUT THE SIZE OF A SMALL MARBLE AT THE TIP. THERE IS PART OF A MAKERS MARK ON THE ROD. BUT I'M NOT SURE WHAT IT IS. IT LOOKS LIKE(FRANK? OR(TONKIN?THE ROD IS NOT STRAIGHT. BUT IT'S STILL COMPLETE.
