A brown neoprene fore and aft grip and a rubber butt cap with no gimbal. The rod blank is the classic dark brown Fenwick color and the wraps are brown over white trim. A nice classic Fenwick rod with the Eagle decal above the fore grip. It will be shipped in a protective rod tube with internal bubble wrap protection. R.L. Winston 15' Salmon Fly Tournament Casting Rod This Winston bamboo fly rod is 15' long and was used in and built to the specs of the American Casting Association's Salmon Fly Distance events. Commonly used at the Golden Gate Casting Club as well as other venues around the country/world for the SFD events. This is an extremely rare specialty rod. There is no reel seat on this rod as the line was laid on the ground to be released during the cast. For being a rod that is dated from the early 1950s. The rod is in great condition. There are some light nicks/scratches, nothing that seems too serious. The handle wraps are in great shape and the two pieces connect together nicely. The rod tip does have a slight curve to it(likely from storage) when you look down the tip section. For sale is an old vintage/antique bamboo cane fishing pole. It has 3 sections with brass connectors and measures 15 feet long. This thing is HUGE Each section is approx 5 feet. So you could just use two sections for a nice 10 foot rod. Has a brass eyelet on the tip and on the brass connectors. The bamboo is very flexible yet strong. Making for great action. There is a crack down the middle of the largest section(bottom piece) but it does not compromise the pole. Bamboo is VERY sturdy and strong. The pieces brass fit together. After looking over very closely I found a very small split(photo#7) also the bag and rod are marked 6" as I measured(photo#3) I got an overall length of 71" I'm not an expert but after close examination I don't think the tip has ever been replaced, and if it has been it was professionally done(may explain the lost inch) All nicely aged with good patina, signs use, surface wear and scratches. Comes with bag and metal tube, bottom of bag has become unstitched(photo#11) I use a third party shipping company for packaging, shipping and insurance.

This interesting old fishing rod is marked F.E.Thomas Special Bangor. Maine. Also, there is a patent date June 1913. There are 5 pieces plus a large tip carrier part. The five pieces are all 63" long. There are a few missing guides and a few loose wraps but otherwise all looks OK. The tips look unused. The cork has some dings but it is intact. Using three pieces the rod assembles to about 15 feet. The number 9 with a dot under the tail in stamped on the butt end of the rod. See photos for details and other aspects of condition.
