This is. Admittedly, an odd piece. But a quite remarkable one. Made in the late 1980s this is possibly the lightest float tube ever made-it literally weighs ounces! Simple old doughnut design, integral stripping apron and suspenders, signal orange, even has a hull id# Self sealing(i.e. self-repairing) neoprene film lines the nylon structure; two air chambers inflate by the mouth and lock/seal; three pockets(one can function as a back rest-see below) The ideal tube for back packing and/or long hikes into back country lakes. This thing was built to last in spite of its being a featherweight. It literally shows no wear. A bit about Del Canty: The man was legendary. He was famous for catching enormous brown trout in Utah's Flaming Gorge Reservoir. He invented this float tube and would fish out of it for days on end in the foulest of weather ... morein pursuit of"lunkers" Hence the name"Lunker Hunter. He stuffed the rear/center pocket with a sleeping bag and away he went. I am not joking. I met Del Canty when he was in his 70s while fishing out of a lodge on Alaska's Talichulitna River: here I am in Alaska for the first time, in my 20s, fishing out of a comfortable lodge when one day this guy comes bobbing down the river in one of these float tubes-he had been flown into a lake some 50 miles up-river and floated the length of the'Tal all by himself, grizzley bears be damned, to catch rainbows and sockeyes! Truly a piece of fly fishing history. Judging by what's available on eBay in the way of float tubes this should sell for about $50; but being what it is, as a collector's item(did they even make enough of these to collect? and associated with Del Canty who knows what its really worth.I suppose we'll all find out. Very nice and in absolutely solid excellent condition. Very slightly used. If it was ever used at all. Smells and looks very clean and all stitching is solid with no frays or scuff marks. I also realized when it was time to deflate it that the yellow deflating tool was still factory attached to the pocket(see photo) and I couldn't deflate it without detaching it. I bought this new in the 1980's after visiting with Del Canty at the ISE-San Francisco show. Google"Del Canty" for a history of this famous Flaming Gorge Reservoir fisherman who would go out for days in this tube and target huge brown trout. This tube has been used on and off since I purchased it. It is in good working condition. The inflation bag allows me to fill the tube in less than 5 minutes. Weight of the tube is about 3 pounds. Up for auction is one used float tube. Made in the U.S.A, by Buck's Bags in Boise, Idaho. The model is called The Rustler, and is perfect for fly fishing. This float tube was used a handful of time, and is in excellent condition. There is one rubber inner tube which is inflated to provide the main support, and another for back support included. There are two storage pockets on either side for your gear. All equipment is intact, and there are slight signs of use. The zippers work on all compartments. A similar model sells at $285 new. There are no rips or tears. The back rest inner tube has been repaired with patches in order to hold air. The maximum capacity would be about 285 lbs. What I like about this model is that the inner tubes can be replaced at any time. Which is not true of other inflatables, which are all one piece of plastic, ... moreand are simply repaired. This is definitely the old fashioned tubes from my childhood, with thick rubber and can last a long time if cared for. I recommend storing the inner tubes and the outer material separately. Up for sale is a Used Caddis U-shaped float tube. The main bladder DOES NOT leak at all. I had it pumped up for several days before taking these pictures and it was still fully inflated. Theres only one of the two inflatable back rests. It does lose air overnight. The other one leaked badly and i threw it away a while back. I just used a few pieces of a cheap pool noodle cut to length and it worked fine. If interested new replacement backrest bladders can be purchased here: Theres no rips or tears. ESTATE FIND! This vintage hardly used' FISHMASTER MFG. COMPANY PORTLAND OKLAHOMA' fishing float tube. This was hanging in the rafters of an old shed looks like it was used a time or two and hung up to dry and forgot about. Not sure of the age but I can remember them in the 1970's. It is made of heavy duty durable treated canvas and inside the canvas cover is a 20 inch truck tire tube. It is marked on the tag model 220. It measures 36 inches across. Weight is around 12 pounds. Condition is very good to excellent for age, no rips, zipper works like it should, just a bit of dirt and dust from hanging in the shed all these years. I did not try to wash it because it still has the original tags on it and did not want to damage them. I think it would clean right up the first time in the water, but looks good just the way it is. I am the original owner of this float tube. Fins and pump which I no longer use. All three items have only been used about 12 times over the years. The float tube is made from a very heavy and durable cordura nylon. It holds air very well with no leaks. The tube has two air compartments and three zippered storage compartments. The orange colored upper air portion of the tube has faded quite a bit. Fins are the Forcefin brand and in very good condition. I wear a men's size 11 shoe and a 12 wading boot and they fit fine.
