The flies are all snelled wet flies, the flies most commonly used at the time. Most of the flies look to be about size 12 and there is a variety of different flies, with very few that are the same pattern. We count 80 flies but there might be one or two more or less. Not sure of the manufacturer or manufacture date but I suspect from around the ... moreturn of the century. The closed book measures 7 1/8 inches by 4 inches by 7/8 inches; open size is 7 1/4 inches by 10 3/8 inches. The leather is in well-handled condition with one very minor tear at one of the folds. There is minor cracking of the leather at the folds. There are six(paper? envelope pages to hold"casts" leaders. There is a felt page in the middle of the six envelopes. This felt page has had a corner cut out(see pictures) The stitching has failed on the left inner side forming a leather pouch; the other side is fine. One of the latches could use a little tinkering; it closes but not with authority of the other latch. When I look back at my description above. This book sounds awful. This is not the case. It really is a neat looking relic from its many years astream. It would be wonderful in a display case next to other worthy retired angling items. Offered is a vintage faux leather/vinyl? fly/hook/leader pouch. This is a tri-fold pouch with 2 inner pockets as well as 2 hard sleeves with hooks on both ends and a spring in the middle on both side of the sleeve. The pouch as two small marks on the outside and some cracking in the folds on the inside but is in otherwose very good condition. Felt is clean on the inside and plastic sleeves still clear and not scratched. On the outside is a fish with the words Common Sense in the fish. I can find no info on the name. I would guess this to be from the 40s50sor 60s maybe earlier as determined by the snaps of which are old and made by United-Carr and used during that time period. This wallet is constructed of heavy leather. The stitching is attractive. The closure is by 2 snaps. This wallet contains 4 fold over compartments for flies. 6 layers of felt for drying. Inside the front there is a sponge patch for flies, inside the rear there is a fleece patch for flies. There are also 2 clear plastic compartments. This comes complete with a vintage fly selection. I am currently selling a Leather Fly-Fishing Wallet used to hold flies for fly fishing. The outside is leather. And the inside appears to be sheep's wool/hide. This has never been used. Although it does have some minor scuffs on the surface from being in a box with some of my other flyfishing equipment. While this is an excellent piece. I spend most of my time wet-wading(and often get wet) and therefore do not take pieces like this with me. This would be ideal for someone who fly-fishing or uses flies from a boat. vintage heavy duty leather canvas Orvis fly fishing hunting travel bag duffle
Last of my fishing equipment! This is an amazing heavy duty Orvis fishing bag made of canvas and leather and will accommodate a lot of equipment Measures Width: 19.5” Height: 13” Depth: 6” Handle height: 12” The interior top has a zippered compartment under the entire outside flap. The interior bottom is divided into two sections; The one that runs the length of the bag has two flaps that attach with a center snap to allow for privacy and weatherproofing. The other compartment towards the front of the bag is divided into three sections. All stitching is tight and in good shape. There are generous end pockets with zippers. And there are covers for the zippers to keep the pockets waterproof. The front of the bag is thickly padded to protect against knocks to whatever is carried in those front sections. This bag has been personalized with a ... morebrass plaque so you can easily switch it out for your own name now that the hardware is in place. The brown leather top. Bottom and straps have some very minor soiling. I didn't try to clean the leather, there are some white speckles on it. The two outside straps and snap closures are complete and in great shape. The center leather strap has a split(which is not all the way through to the holes) and attaches with a buckle. At this point it is easy to reinforce by adding a backing piece which any leather shop can do. There is a small stain on the back/bottom/right in the canvas. The heavy green tote handles are in good condition with no issues. There are places on the sides where a shoulder strap can be attached however there wasn't one that came with this bag.
