Hi. Thanx for looking. Get ready for the fishing season with this original vintage Scientific Angler fly rod. The system G graphite rod is an 8'9" super light rod made by 3M. I received the rod as a gift in the 70's but never used it and only showed it off a couple times. Otherwise it has lived its entire life its original tube. You'll receive the 2 piece rod in its original sock in its original tube. I believe this is the best rod i own(and i do own a few) i just have never seen the metal ferrals, putting the sections together. Also the burgundy color is fantastic, however getting an adequate pic of that has proven difficult. Should you win this rod i assure you, you will not be disappointed. Overview My father only knew two kinds of fishing. 1) Casting dry flies in the California Sierras while he was in the Explorer Scouts during the 1950's. 2) Throwing a Dardevelle out into a lake with a Sears steel rod and a Zebco spin-casting reel. My dad's father said he used to ... moreangle for catfish in Shelby County. KY before they left the farm and moved to California- well, that was just after World War One ended. My maternal grandfather only knew 3 kinds of fishing: Pautzke's, Velveeta, and corn for planted rainbows. The point of all this being that I had very little opportunity to pick up old wives' tales about fishing from those who taught me. cuz I never had a fishing mentor! Almost everything I learned about it came from reading and experience. I was in my 30's before I joined a fly-fishing club. And that made a huge difference, praise be! Now this has not been the case with most people. They learn that catfish and carp baits must stink to high heaven or there won't be any bites. That the fishing is better when it rains. The rod was found with an perfectly matching extra tip- I didn't know that was available. Not sure of the exact vintage- The rod has a green color to it and that might help date the rod if you know vintage Scientific Angler fly rods. I think the rod is graphite but the only markings are Scientific Angler 9ft. 2 section Line wt. 5/6 The reel seat is stamped GRAPHITE G-16 The rod remains in EXCELLENT CONDITION with very light soiling on the cork handle from previous use. 100% original with no repairs on the butt section or either tip section. Offered for sale is a vintage Scientific Angler System 7 fly reel& 1 extra spool. The reel was MADE by Hardy in England I was told in the late 1970's. The reel comes with a marked Scientific Anler reel case. Both the fly reel and extra spool were found inside the reel case(tight fit but that how they were found! The reels housing shows paint wear from use but otherwise the reel is smooth and ready to use. There are no chips or dings-just ordinary paint wear from use. There are fly lines on each spool that I think are still useable. Both line could use a cleaning. The reel is set up for right handed retrieve but can be switched if you know how. Made by Hardy of Alnwick for Scientific Anglers many years ago is this spare spool in very good condition. I think this for 7 wt fly lines(System 7) The diameter of the spool's back plate(easier to measure) is 3 1/16 inch. And the inside measurement of the spool is 3/4 inch. thanks for looking.this is another item from camp. one SCI ANGLER MASTERY FLY REEL 67.comes with a int game fish case that it rested on. 67. purchase in 1995.The last HARDY made sci angler reel.reel has been in the library with the other hardy,orvis reels etc.the reel is in excellant shape,actually not sure if we ever used it, has backing on it. 1/2 dozen times.shows little ware.cleaned every year and put back up on the shelf with the other fishing items,we have a couple other masterys.i am keeping two. world-class performance reels with the Mastery series. the reel is designed to do one thing- meet the needs of the most discriminating warrior-fly fishe.I am reminded of an old TV ad many will recall from Christmas’ past. As I recall. The announcer would say, and remember friends, it really, really works! The Mastery series does, and does ... moreit well. It’s hard to imagine buying a better reel, regardless of how much money is spent. Keep in mind that gold inlays, etchings, and shinny sides have little to do with high performance under adverse conditions. Mastery is a credit to Scientific Anglers’ development process. The disc-drag fabricated from new-to-the-industry aviation carbon. The drag is not only smooth, it dissipates heat quickly when friend fish heads out on a long run. Scientific Angler’s lab tests have proven the drag exhibits only a 3 to 4-degree increase in 200-yard runs at 22 mph.
