Vintage'Lucky Louie' Hand Painted FISHING Wooden LURE/ PLUG- Shovel Nose 5 1/2" Length Pearly Yellow Underbody and Top that transitions to a salmon-orange streak that runs laterally along both sides. The front has a bright red Shovel-Nose at the concave'slice' Centered in this slice. Is a small beaded chain that comes out ~ 1" to hold the clip that holds the leader(I hope I said that right) The wood is fine- no cracks. there are a few small'creases' And bite marks- you can see the underlying wood, but it has not gotten any chunks missing. probably made by curious/hungry fish. The colors have a thin shiny varnish-type glaze for wood protection and retaining the colors. An INTERESTING THING about the eyes- Rather than being circles with the usual yellow with large black pupils. These have black squares with ... morepartial eyes on both sides! Someone suggested this was some sort of prototype to draw a fishe's attention to the eyes; another person suggested that this is how they are made- the whole square which has perforations is placed over the painted body of the fish and pulled away, leaving only the eye.if that's the case, someone boo-booed, as the whole square with eye in the middle is still there! But, there are definitely some fish-interest marks on the lure, so maybe they're on to something! The hook coming from the hardware on the underside is triple-barbed. The hardware to hold the leader. Acquired at a local Estate Sale this is a Vintage-Bill Minser-Lucky Louie-2 Lures with Box-Unused-One is Pink Pearl- As per the pictures they look to be in unused condition. The pink one measures approx. 5 1/4" and the red one 5 1/2" As this is not my field of expertise I am not sure if these are lures or plugs and they look unused because they are clean.
