For sale is a used. Custom-built St. Croix baitcaster. The blank is actually a spinning rod blank 5S66MF(SCV graphite used in the Legend Elite rods) I had created into a baitcaster. It has a shorter handle(about 7.5 inches from the butt to the trigger) I selected to use for light poppers and other topwaters. It's rated as Medium power, Fast action. 6-12 lb test, 3/16 to 5/8 oz lures. It's in very good shape. There's a few scratches and a small scrap on the label. It's about 7 years old or so and it has the"green" color blank. It's very lightweight and looks very sharp. For example, with a Curado. RETAILED FOR ABOUT $450 NEW Up for auction is a nice vintage St. Croix Legend Elite fly rod purchased directly from the St. Croix factory in Park Falls. WI. This rod was turned into St. Croix for warranty due to the fact that it had a broken tip section. I was able to find a matching tip section in order to make a new complete rod. The handle section is complete with the St. Croix logo scrapped off. This is how they identify warranty return rods, by scrapping off the label. This does not effect the performance of the rod. There is a pic that shows where the label has been removed. The butt section and the middle 2 sections are from the original rod. They are in good used condition. The new tip section matches and fits the blank perfectly, but it is not tied or finished and has ... moreno guides. Just the bare blank section. This is the rod I use for 1/4 and 3/8 oz jigs. 1/8 to 1/4 oz Texas rig worms, shaky head, flick shake, tubes, 5" Senko's, and for the 3/8 oz"Bubba Shot" I usually throw 6 and 8 lb flourocarbon on these rods, sometimes 10 or 12lb. St. Croix Legend Elite ESW907.4 9' Fishing Rod
I purchased this rod to be a large trout. Pike, bass streamer rod. It has been well taken care of. If the pictures show a little smudging on the male ferrules, that is ferrule wax. This is a great casting and powerful rod. It could be a very good steelhead/salmon rod too. The saltwater rods are stronger in the butt section than the freshwater rods. You will be pleased if you purchase this rod. I use my 5 wt. mostly on smaller streams and don't get to go steelhead and pike fishing as much anymore.
