VTG 14' LEONARD Bamboo Salmon Fly Rod Steelhead Spey
This beautiful 14' Leonard salmon rod was made back when men were men. I'm unsure if the fellas of today. That believe lighter is better, would attempt to use it on their favorite Atlantic Salmon river, but it sure would look and work good with a Vom Hofe 504 hanging from the reel seat! If not for use, it could hang from one corner to another in the man cave. This rod is in excellent condition, but will need a few things to make it perfect and it would not take much. Obviously a few guides are off, which means that the wraps are dry. Four of the five guides are present, you will need to find one to complete the set. One section is a couple inches short, not a big deal on a rod of this length. The tips are in perfect condition with all guides attached, most likely because of the tube that they lived in. The original owner did some ... moremicro-scribing on some of the hardware which gives it kind of a history. There is a lot of bamboo and nickel silver for the money on this rod. This rod comes with a very rare hang tag and original receipt, canvas sock, tip tube, and tip sock. The address on the receipt is only digitally removed. The original owner was a friend of Joseph Pulitzer's and fished some of the famous salmon rivers in Canada and Norway with him. I am selling some of his salmon flies from Hardy and Arseneault in other auctions. Shipping is $23.50 to the lower 48. On Feb-21-13 at 11:32:27 PST. Seller added the following information: This is a three piece rod with one extra mid section and one extra tip. One of the mid sections is 2" short. Therefore. With the full sized mid, the rod would be full length. I debated selling this rod because of it's beauty and the sheer amount of bamboo and impressive nickel silver ferrules. This would be a very easy restoration because other than the wraps, the finish on the rest of the cane is near immaculate.

If you fly fish for Steelhead then you know what you're looking at. This is Scott's legendary 4.1 oz. 9'5" 7 weight G-series rod. Great balance and sensitivity for drifting eggs and nymphs through deep runs. Just the right softness to turn over a weighted rig on a longer cast, yet the backbone to bring 10 lb. steelie quickly to hand. I tried quite a few newer rods from Scott, Sage, and St. Croix in a quest to find a more versatile better performing rod and never did. This rod is just as happy punching hopper imitations out to smallmouth on larger rivers, as well. Used. But well cared for and showing no signs of wear other than a mark on the reel seat insert that only shows up when held to the light. The recommended line weight is 8-12 lbs. and Lure weight is 3/8-3/4 oz. The rod doesn't say. But it feels like a med- light action rod to me. It has a rod rule on it that measures from 12 to 24 inches. The rod has been used and shows very light wear, scuffs, scratches, and a few light indentations on the handle, but it is clean, straight, and in very good or better condition. THE FISH EAGLE IS IN IMMACUALTE CONDITION. IF IT WASN'T FOR THE LIGHT DISSCOLORATION ON THE CORK FROM HANDLING YOU WOULD THINK IT IS NEW. IT IS COMPLETELY INTACK AND DOES NOT A CUT OR SCRATCH. THE GUIDE LINERS DO NOT HAVE A MARK. THE FRAMES LOOK AS GOOD AS-CAN-BE AND THE WRAPS SHOW NO SIGN OF EVEN THE SMALLEST CRACK. THE BLANK LOOKS FANTASTIC. THERE MAYBE A MARK BUT I DID NOT NOTICE IT.
