Antique Marquesan U'u Club South Pacific Tiki Heads Very Heavy Nice Color This is a hard to find peace of Oceana. This Marquesan U'u club is made of heavy wood and is decorated with Tiki heads on each side. It has a nice dark color and measures approx. 41 3/4" long. 5 1/8" across at the head and 3 3/8" wide. The carved decoration appears to have mud caked in it. I believe that these clubs were buried in mud and then rubbed with oil to make them dark. The piece has some chipping and age cracks as well as deterioration but is in overall good, solid condition. I believe this probably dates to the late 19th to early 20th Century but could be earlier.
