1960's Johnny Walker Trout Net - Michigan, VTG and possibly rare find.
Vintage JOHNNY WALKER trout net has five joined circles above the name. The bent hardwood handle is quality made with nylon thread tightly wound around the grip end with leather wrap. Tether line and belt snap. The netting itself looks excellent and still strong. I believe it was made in Detroit. I cannot find one like it anywhere on the WEB and this may be a rare example of Johhny Walker fishing nets. That company was in business a short time and they made quality fiberglass fishing rods in the 1960's, prior to being sold in the 1970's. I cannot find another photo or information about this net anywhere and assume this is a RARE find? This particular model is the hard to find TN-15 Deluxe Trout Net. There are a few TN-17s available. But the more compact TN-15 is a bit harder to find. The wood has aged into a pleasant mellow light oak tone. This has a comfortable feel in the hand. This will be great back in a stream or on display as decor in a trophy room. Condition: The green net is in great shape. No rips, tears, holes or repairs. The wood appears to be in good shape, not great but better than fair. There are ware marks from use, some dings and scrapes and some old adhesive is left on the upper part of the hand grip on one side… it appears it will come off with some goo-gone, but I will leave that to the new owner. Up for your consideration is a very early museum quality piece of fishing history. Its a Historic wood landing net from the early to late 1800s. All hand made even the copper rivets used in the construction are hand forged and assembled. Has a outstanding copper hand made and soldered grip. In ex condition except for one crack in one of the supports near the mouth which you should be able to see in the pics. Mouth has a 12"13"opening. The netting is long gone as you would expect in a piece of the age. It came out of the PA area. If this piece could talk. Imagine the stories it could tell.
