Herter's No. 9 Fly Tying Vise Manufactured by Thompson This was my first fly tying vise when I was a young man. Fantastic shape for its age. Dates back to the late 1960's and early 70's. I have several other vises now but have kept this one. You likely won't find one of these in this kind of condition. I believe that this may be a Thompson"A" vise built for Herter's. The name"Thompson" is on the cam lock lever. Everything functions perfectly. It is still a very useful vise for fly tying, jewelry making, or other tasks requiring the firm hold of small objects. VINTAGE ? HERTER FLY TYING VISE ON A STAND
Up for bid is a Herters fly tying vise on a stand.I really know nothing about it except it was in my father-in-laws garage in Montana.I will describe it the best I can! If you look on the bottom where the green felt is,that is not rust,it is the glue that was used to put the felt on with. My son-in-law said it does work.The long rod is 12" long and can be removed from the base,there is a little screw handle thing that tightens it up when in the base.The chrome seems to be in excellent shape,I have not cleaned it. The base is 4 1/2" by 4 1/2" and I really don't know what metal the base is made out of. If you need more pictures feel free to ask I try to keep my shipping as low as possible,with the box and vise it does weigh 2 lbs 5oz. If shipping is less due to your zip code I do reimburse the diff.

Fixed but rotating jaws, and has a heavy base with four compartments to hold bottles,etc It is rare compared to the more common vise that clamps to the edge of a workbench. It is very convenient to simply swing the base around to view the opposite side of the fly. Unit weighs almost 4 pounds. Vintage Herter's Fly Tying Vise with Swivel Adjustability
This is a vintage Herter's fly tying vise. It is similar to the Herter's model#9 except that the angle of the vise can be adjusted with a ball joint at the top of the clamp. The clamp is marked"HERTER'S INC. WASECA. MINN" The brown enamel finish is in good condition except for a few chips around the ball joint. Back cover has wear marks from storage inside box. Inside and Cover are Pristine. up for bid-One Vtg. Herter's Fly Tyer's Cabinet loaded w/accessory's + vises- This cabinet is 10" x 10" x 8"h. Dark grey with 4 blue drawers and in good condition for it's age 60's/70's.The top drawer(1st drawer picture) contains lots of hooks, swivels- both old style barrel and clip type, bunch of small corks, the five little small red cap tubes- 4 have tiny flies(don't know if these were bought or hand tied and the other tube has a ice fishing tiny jig. Also 4 old match books- two have a some made up mono split shot rigs. 2nd drawer(2nd drawer pic) has 4 tubes of glitter and a small sq. container very fine like glitter dust- middle back compartment has a Herter's hackle pliers, thompson hackle pliers, T-L-Tyers vise pat.pend. and tube of outer Reelslick- back left compartment has whole bunch ... moreof sm. lead jigs, some spinner blades, small amount of beads and some flo& red tubing. 3 front compartment have floating beads, unknown colored round material type balls with small hook in each and a couple have leaders. 3rd drawer(3rd drawer pic) has fly tying materials- 9 new on card chenille's various colors and 3 are sparkle- 2 cards of Herter's lifex translucent body material- some coils of a gold type body material- 13 spools of tying thread and a bunch of loose chenille material. 4 bottom drawer(4th drawer pic) right side has 14 Herter's on card body materials various colors, also 4sm. cards of Universal wool body material, 2 Cortland body matl. 1 card of Meno's matl, and a card of Tack-L-Tyers- left side has 16 packages of various feathers a few still have labels. The feathers are also shown in a separate picture from the 4th drawer and the Herter's and other body materials are also shown is a separate pic. Most we just put out in our shop but this little set looked to be more of a specialty thing an eBayer might look for. It's a"Herter's Whip Finisher" and has 2 sets of original instructions with it. Then there is a tool also marked Herter's which appears to be small vice or clamp. And finally there are 3 spoon-like things with holes in them. Vintage 1941 Herter's Complete Fly Tying Instruction Book
This vintage booklet is 5 1/4 X 8 1/4 inches and 119 pages with 350 illustrations of Herter's timeless fly tying instructions and illustrations. The booklet is a brown paper bag color and some of the pages from page 85 on show some water staining expending about one inch from the edge. Pages 55 and 57 have the lower right hand corner torn and missing about the size of a small postage stamp.
