Petitjean c. 1830-1840 Antique early romantic guitar
Hello, After a longer Ebay break. I think it´s time to sell some guitars from my collection. If you are interested in early romantic guitars, you can also have a look at fine-antique-guitars(and a dot and a com) Most of this guitars are not for sale, but.have a look. In the next month I will sell some more guitars from the very early romanic. So have a look from time to time. This guitar is a very beautiful one from the PETITJEAN workshop. Stamped inside: PETITJEAN a Mirecourt. If you`ll have a look on my website, you´ll find a second Petitjean guitar, the"Parisien model" which- I think- was made a bit earlier. Petitjean guitars with the extensive use of MOP inlays are quite rare. The same MOP pattern was used by the Lacote workshop. So it might be, that they used the same artist for these MOP inlays. This instrument is ... morein excellent shape for it´s age. It shows only slight playware for c. 170 years. Headstock veneered both sides with ebony. Repairs visible. Neck veneered from the back, fretboard ebony shows only little use. Frets are not original. The neck is straight, not twisted or bowed. Belly made of finest spruce, all splices visible are repaired. Bridge later replaced. Back veneered on spruce. The shellack from the sides and the back seems to be refreshed. Bridge pins later but could be from that time. Here are some measurements. Overall length: 930 mm Scale-length: 645 mm Head length: 175 mm measurend from the front Back length: 453 mm Upper bouth width: 220 mm Lower bouth width: 290 mm Waist width: 163 mm Depth at heel: 68 mm Depth at waist: 75 mm Depth at base: 76 mm It is obvious. Die Werkstätte wurde höchst wahrscheinlich von vielen Mitgliedern der Familie betrieben. Die Gitarren wurden mit verschiedenen Herstellernamen versehen, wie etwa: Petitjean L’ainé à Paris’ wie in diesem vorliegenden Falle) Petitjean à Mirecourt’ und‘Petitjean’ Die Neuerungen ... moreder‘Petitjean’ Werkstätte war, dass die Gitarren nicht mehr einen zweiteiligen Boden, sondern einteilig aus Massivholz oder aus Furnier gebaut wurden. Zudem wurden auch wertvolle Edelhölzer verarbeitet wie z.B. brasilianisches Rosenholz. Die hier vorgestellte Gitarre ist sehr fein verabeitet und besitzt eine Decke aus fein gemaserter Fichte. Der Deckenrand sowie das Schallloch sind mit Perlmutt verziert, die auf dem Griffbrett und dem Kopf weitergeführt wird. Der rechteckige Ebenholzsteg ist an den Seiten ebenso mit Perlmutt verziert. Der Boden und die Zargen der Gitarre sind aus massiver Esche. Die Gitarre befindet sich in einem sehr guten spielbaren Zustand.
