Herter's No. 9 Fly Tying Vise Manufactured by Thompson This was my first fly tying vise when I was a young man. Fantastic shape for its age. Dates back to the late 1960's and early 70's. I have several other vises now but have kept this one. You likely won't find one of these in this kind of condition. I believe that this may be a Thompson"A" vise built for Herter's. The name"Thompson" is on the cam lock lever. Everything functions perfectly. It is still a very useful vise for fly tying, jewelry making, or other tasks requiring the firm hold of small objects. I believe this is the Pro II model. Which came out in the ... moremid 1980’s. It has the word“Thompson” stamped on the closing lever tab at the end. This also has a homemade wire lead arm that was with it which isn’t original to the vise but I am including it as it is still useful. This vise is heavy and sturdy; the base is weighted and has a cork covered bottom. Condition of the vise is used. Very good. There is some very light rust showing on the knurled areas of the vise, and some small spots on the closing tab. A few faint scratches in places. It opens and closes smoothly and there are no dents or broken areas. Small spot of tape on the bottom. Buyer to pay for choice of either USPS Priority or Parcel Post shipping. Thompson low profile Fly Tying Vise
This is a low profile Thompson vise(not sure if it came that way or was adapted) With little ware(a couple spots that can be seen in photos) Jaws are in very good shape and easy to adjust. I got it with what looks to be an extra set of jaws for different size hooks. I am 99% sure it works with this vise but I have not tested. I am sure if you do not like the low profile you could get a replacement shaft. Also note that the c-clam height adjustment screw is missing. It is a standard size and I may have an extra which I will add it if I find it. Please note I have an bunch of fly tying products for sale. I am happy combine shipping.
