Up for bids is a great vintage Depose folding magnifying glass. The handle has Depose and what looks to be a rooster embossed into it. The glass measures 5 1/4 inches when unfolded and 3 inches at its widest point when folded up. The glass has no scratches or damage. There is some wear from use as can be seen in the picture. Rectangle magnifiers are often preferred for reading because the lens shape is better suited and sized for reading columns type and the field of view is larger then on a traditional round magnifier. This vintage magnifier is in very good condition. The magnifier measures approx 10 cms by 5 cms and the handle goes at an angle and is wooden. Antique horn and silver oval magnifying glass/ eye glass/ magnifier/ loupe.
The rim is horn but was damaged a long time ago and the owner had it replaced by a silver ring all around. This is very unusual and the job was done perfectly. Approximate measurements: 80 mm long/62 mm wide when closed. Condition: opens and closes as it should. There is a tiny piece of horn missing at the bottom but this does not affect in any way the sturdiness of the item. Can be used daily. Optics are in very good condition and magnification is normal for this size. We do our very best to describe the items as accurately as possible but we are not experts in every field. It is hallmarked at the handle. The magnifying glass is hemispherical embossed and with handle 6.2 inch long(158mm) and 1 inch wide(25mm) I guess this magnifier is made in 1970's as it is hallmarked WESTERN GERMANY which is used since this time.
