This is a FANTASTIC Rotary head fly tying vise very early and no longer made. The vise comes with complete with a Thompson Hook/Hackle gage and a bobbin rest the total weight of the vise is 4.5 pounds it has adjustable jaw strength and a rotary lock to lock the head in place. I have used this vise for years with great success now the old eye sight is getting worse and I'm not tying any longer. The vise has a rotary knob and a thumb spindle for spinning the fly quickly. Herter's No. 9 Fly Tying Vise Manufactured by Thompson This was my first fly tying vise when I was a young man. Fantastic shape for its age. Dates back to the late 1960's and early 70's. I have several other vises now but have kept this one. You likely won't find one of these in this kind of condition. I believe that this may be a Thompson"A" vise built for Herter's. The name"Thompson" is on the cam lock lever. Everything functions perfectly. It is still a very useful vise for fly tying, jewelry making, or other tasks requiring the firm hold of small objects. VINTAGE ? HERTER FLY TYING VISE ON A STAND
Up for bid is a Herters fly tying vise on a stand.I really know nothing about it except it was in my father-in-laws garage in Montana.I will describe it the best I can! If you look on the bottom where the green felt is,that is not rust,it is the glue that was used to put the felt on with. My son-in-law said it does work.The long rod is 12" long and can be removed from the base,there is a little screw handle thing that tightens it up when in the base.The chrome seems to be in excellent shape,I have not cleaned it. The base is 4 1/2" by 4 1/2" and I really don't know what metal the base is made out of. If you need more pictures feel free to ask I try to keep my shipping as low as possible,with the box and vise it does weigh 2 lbs 5oz. If shipping is less due to your zip code I do reimburse the diff.

Ari T Hart one of a kind vintage fly tying vise
So here is my last and very best vise. I bought this vise from John Betts in Denver Colorado who at the time sold a great deal of Ari Hart's custom work. If my memory is correct this vise was purchased in 1988 or 89. As was related by John. Ari Hart made only 5 of these completely hand made model A vises. Only two or three of the five had this ancient Spanish Yew wood. I never tied a fly on the vise. Stored in my safe, so its in as new condition. Included are letters and directions from john, along with a Magazine article speaking to this vise. There is a high reserve on this vise. Some things are just hard to part with no matter what the final price. Good luck. Its important to me this vise finds a good home.

This auction is for a vintage Crown Pedestal Spring Tension Fly Tying Vise complete with Allen Wrench and Wood Case in excellent condition. The Fly Tying Vise features a spring tension jaw design. A heavy-duty brass and steel head that adjusts for both angle and rotation and comes complete with very heavy cast pedestal base for maximum stability. The base measures approximately 5 ½” in diameter x ½” thick and stands approximately 11 ½” to tying height when mounted onto base.
