Gordon Swenatron is an obscure fish decoy carver whose decoys are excellent. Original works of art with outstanding folk art qualities and decorator appeal. They are hand made and hand painted and exhibit wonderful personality and visual appeal. This outstanding and larger sized Swenarton Muskie measures a very nice 9 3/4" long. It has carved gill markings and red glass eyes. The decoy is painted in really folky and muted shades of green and yellow with accents in white and pink. This is an early example of Mike's work before he went toward the ultra realistic style and has to be very unusual. It measures 6 1/2" long and has carve gill and mouth features. It is completely hand made and hand painted in the old schiool tradition. The condition is original and lightly fished with light wear and signs of age. The maker has signed the decoy by carving MO into the belly. It also has 2" carved next to the MO but I am not sure what this may mean. This neat. Vintage, painted tack eyed, 7 inch, working"Cadillac Style Fish Spearing Decoy" was made by an unknown Cadillac. Michigan area maker. The estimated circa is 1950's-60's. The maker of this neat fish attractor had cleverly painted flowing blood from this decoys gills to give it a crippled look to his prey. Decoys from the Cadillac area school are highly sought after, for there were many legendary spear fishermen who were also reveared decoy makers. Hello. Here are three working decoys by Michigan carver Jed Blain. There are three total. These are not fancy decoys, they are working decoys made for decoying fish. 16" Pike shape. This is an example of Jed's crazy use of CD's and whatever is around to make an attractive fish. 10" You be the Judge? Gold color with glitter. Glass eyes, and a Swiss Swing on the tail. 8" Burbot shape. But painted silver with yellow/red spots. I think this is an older one. These are all from Jed's personal stable of decoys.

Here is a Vintage 1930s Iggy Kusch Atlantic Cod Fish Plaque. When these plaques came out some years back. The name tagged to them was Ziggy Ostrowski. HOWEVER, Thru more research, this name was wrong and his real name was Iggy Kusch. He was a Drunk from Milwaukee, and he would Trade these for drinks. The plaque is 19" X 6 3/4" and the fish is 16 1/2" Long. So, it is a Large Iggy Kusch. MOST of the fish he made plaques of were Ocean Fish. Go Figure, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
