The pole has some scratches and rust on it from use and age but appears to be in working condition. It has a South Bend No. 300 Anti-Back-Lash Model D reel attached to it. Antique 22.5" STUB CASTER Ice Fishing Rod w/JC HIGGINS Model 488 Reel
For your consideration is a Vintage Stub-Caster Ice Fishing Rod with JC HIGGINS Model 488 Reel. The rods handle is made from aluminum with bakelite marble grips and fore grip. The rod is steel with one eye at the end. Embossed on each handle is"Stub-Caster" Attached to the rod is a vintage JC Higgins Model No. 488 engraved& jeweled level wind anti backlash casting reel. Engraved on both sides are an image of two men fishing in a boat. Both pieces are in very nice vintage condition with light tarnish and scratches on the aluminum from age and use. The reel works nicely, but one of the plastic sleeves on the handle is partially broken(pic 9) and the JC Higgins stamp on the inside of the reel is partially worn.
