This is an early example of Mike's work before he went toward the ultra realistic style and has to be very unusual. It measures 6 1/2" long and has carve gill and mouth features. It is completely hand made and hand painted in the old schiool tradition. The condition is original and lightly fished with light wear and signs of age. We were eating in a Famous fish restaurant on the beach at Clearwater.Florida and I saw one of their cup's and decided I would create a fish decoy, that I could sell to that restaurant. I no sooner created a design that was some what like their picture on the cup and they closed all their restaurants in Florida. I had fun doing this Decoy and finished this on in 2008. I am selling the cup with this decoy, it is 5" long x 2-3/4" high x 3/4" thick-made of my favorite wood-old knotty cedar-from Torch Lake Mich. Did the fins out of old coat hangars and pored lead in the decoy for sinkability. Sign Jim Scheibner and stamped JCAS-08. Shell's. Never been used, but could be used for ice fishing. Cup is included with decoy. It cost $10.00.

Found this nice old heavy piece of Oak drift wood off the beautiful beach at VERMILLION. Ohio on LAKE ERIE, a few years back. Buckeye" is 25" long x 5" across the fins and 4-1/2" high. He is signed by Jim Scheibner, stamped on the lead poured for sinkability(JCAS-06) and this statement is written on the decoy, This driftwood came from the beach at Vermilion, Ohio on Lake Erie. This decoy would probably scare the Walleye away. He weighs 2 lbs. and can be used for collecting, decorating or ice fishing.

VINTAGE ICE FISHING DECOY with glass eyes measuring 5 1/2 x 1 1/4 x 1/2 inches. The material is probably antler. It does have a flat belly. Mouth and curved body reminiscent of the work of Oscar Peterson but I do not remember him working with antler. A crack in the tail has been repaired. There is now a whole school of Oscar disciples and why not emulate the best. Inuit examples in antler or bone do not resemble this form. A curious addition to your Decoy Collection from Northern Michigan.

Mack-frog" inspired by Mackinaw Island(the turtle island) and just thought both of them would inspire bigger fish to see what they are. Maybe some food. So with that inspiration Mack Frog was created and he is 5" long x 5" across the front legs and 1-1/2" high. Pour lead in belly for sink ability and is stamped JCAS-0-6 and signed by me. Weighs about 10 ounces. Painted with Acrylics and sealed with Urethane Varnish. Mack-frog can be use for Ice Fishing, Collecting or Decorating.
