Inlaid"jungle cock" feather on butt section. Original cork grip and reel seat- good condition. Originally a 8' 5wt. 3 pc. Refinished as a 7'10.5" 5wt. 3pc. some time over the years the tip was repaired at a shorter length by 1.5" Butt section above grip has a repair wrap- seam was slightly open. Not a serious problem. Ferrule wraps are black silk and epoxy coate- I felt that these areas needed more strength. Rod has 4 coats of Spar Urethane Outdoor Clear Semi-Gloss. Rod will cast a 5wt or a 6wt line well. I have cast 50 to 60 feet with the rod. Mid-Flex rod action. Tip is about 1.5" short. The rod is straight- ... morejust did a little straightening of the tip. Vintage bamboo fly rod parts. Butts. mids. tips.
This is for a lot of nine bamboo fly rod sections for use as restoration or rod repair. There are three buts. two mids and four tips. One of the butts is for a reversable rod. Two of the butt sections are 32-1/2" and one is 42" The 42" butt is a very nice butt for a 7' two piece rod. It is labeled. Genuine Tonken Cane. HI. Model Meteor. This has a wood grip and reelseat with a sliding band and is in pretty good shape. One mid is 32" and the other is 36" All the butts and mids have the ferrules. Reel seats, and some guides. Ten Bamboo fly rod tips. Bamboo fly rod. Rod building and repair
This is for a lot of vintage bamboo fly rod tips. There are ten tips total. They range from 32-1/2" to 36-1/2" long. They all have ferrules and tip tops except one with no tip top. This tip has a ferrule but no guides. All the rest appear to have all the guides on them. The two tips at the top of the photos have an issue. The light colored tip has a repair wrap about 4" from the tip. It is well done and almost invisible. The other one is the one with no guides and has a separation about 3" long in the cane about half way up. I don't know if it is separated or a piece of cane is missing. The other eight tips are good. They appear to be full length. There do not appear to be any tips that where broken at the tip top end. Possibly one may have been shortened at the ferrule end. Not sure. The two tips with the blue tape ... morearound them are a matching pair of tips. Some of These tips need some straightening. The finish is good on some and some the finish is worn. Bamboo Fly Rod- No Name- Vintage- Refinished- 8'6" 5/6wt- 2/2 Rod has been refinished by JWTrout. Silk guide wraps- spring creek green and black trim. Original cork grip. New titanium reel seat with green graphite insert. Ferrule wraps are black silk and epoxy coated- I felt that these areas needed more strength. Rod has 4 coats of Spar Urethane Outdoor Clear Semi-Gloss. Rod will cast a 5wt or a 6wt line well. I have cast 50 to 60 feet with the rod. Med- Fast action. The rod is basically straight. Rod is in very good condition for its age. All ferrules are tight. Guides are H&H chrome and spaced and sized to current standards. One tip and butt sections are the same length.
