Thomas & Thomas 7-piece 8-foot 5-weight Vagabond Travel/Briefcase Graphite Rod
I am selling a Thomas& Thomas"Vagabond" rod that I really like. But rarely have had an opportunity to fish. When I bought it, I had great ambitions for fishing in far-away exotic places, but it looks like those dreams are not going to come to pass. I have fished this rod, however, and I can say that despite the number of ferrules, the rod flexes deep and has what I would call a moderate action. I guess this is what I should have expected from Thomas& Thomas, but it is still a source of some amazement to me. Thomas& Thomas no longer offers this rod. But when it did it said this about it in the marketing literature: A rod you can take anywhere, the Vagabond is designed in multiple 15" sections that slip easily into a standard briefcase or overnight bag. Yet, they handle with the ease and smoothness of a 2-piece rod. ... moreFeatures include an uplocking reel seat with hardwood insert and Western grip. I would also note that it has alignment marks, which I think are useful for a rod with this many sections. It is made from a black polished blank with black wraps, and is beautifully finished. The rod retailed for $785.00 in the late'90's when I bought it. It comes with the original rod bag and cordura case. The rod is in excellent shape. I would characterize it as"like new" but for a noticeable scratch on the second section. I have included a close-up of the scratch. It does not affect the performance of the rod. Up for bid is a vintage Seth Thomas windup metronome for parts or repair. As you can see in the image. The glue joint on one of the front case edges has broken. The front wood piece seems to have a bow to it, and it doesn't want to lay flat any more. The mechanism works fine though, and I can't bear to just throw this out. For shipping I will re-install the mechanism but I will not try to re-install the bottom cover for fear of making the case problem worse. Seth Thomas Cherry De Maelzel 9" Metronome Excellent Condition- Works Great You are viewing a great old Seth Thomas Cherry wood De Maelzel 9 inch Metronome. Not only is this a Beautiful piece that will add class to any music room. It also works great. This was from an old Chicago Estate This piece retains the original dust cover door and an original. Spring loop latch that holds the door securely closed, and two steel pins on the bottom that fit in the base of the metronome. It retains the 100% complete instruction label on the cover which is all readable. It is rare to have an instruction label, many are missing by this agen. The winding key is original and it has the original brass ring next to the case under the key to protect the finish. It retains the original bottom cover which are often missing. There is minimal wear and light ... morescratches to the wood. The metronome measures about 8 3/4 inches tall and 4.5 inches square at the base. Many music teachers recommend a mechanical metronome due to its visual swinging pendulum similar to the way the music conductor moves his or her hands. This is an excellent metronome much superior to any made today. The new ones use plastic in the movement and/or case and feel cheap. This auction is for one made of all wood. Brass and steel, with only the bottom cover being plastic.

This is a vintage piece in very good condition. It has a few marks& scratches. But they are not very noticeable. This model also has a bell that can be pulled out to ding or pushed in to stop it. RARE 1854 2 VOLUMES THOMAS HOOD POETRY EARLY EDITION GIFT IDEA ILLUSTRATED EDIT. Description: From 1854. In two clothbound volumes, this is Poems of Thomas Hood, with some account of the author. Published by Little, Brown& Co. Boston. Each book is 7x5 inches, bound in green cloth with paper spine labels. Over 600 pages in all. An 1850s rubber stamp name, Alfred Welles. From a huge Hartford collection. Could be from the family of Gideon Welles, Lincoln's cabinet member, who was from Hartford and spelled the name the same way. An ink stain on the front board of volume 1. Frontispiece portrait of Hood. We note a blindstamp from an 1850s book dealer, H. C. Burley or Burlsy, town is hard to make out. One other idiosyncrasy, a circular section cut out of the blank endpaper of volume 2. Thomas Hood(23 May 1799– 3 May 1845) was a British ... morehumorist and poet. Hood was particularly fond of practical jokes which he was said to have enjoyed perpetrating on members of his family. In the Memorials of Thomas Hood. Which was largely written by his daughter, there is a story of Hood playing one such joke on his wife. He instructs Mrs. Hood to purchase some fish for the evening meal from the woman who regularly comes to the door selling her husband’s catch. Very Rare Arts & Crafts Thomas Jeckyll Brass Tray, Japanese Influence
This is a rare and original Arts and Crafts heater tray designed by Thomas Jeckyll. There is a stamped registration mark on the front interior. There is considerable Japanese influence to be seen. I have found it very difficult to research this unusual piece. There is a reference to one which was sold by Christies in South Kensington in Millers Antique Price guide of 1996 on page 567. A similar result is found on Google. The tray is approx. 16 inches(41 cm) long and approx. 4 3/4 inches(12 cm) wide. It may originally had a liner of some sort. The base and interior are rusty. The tray is highly decorative and is a wonderful piece of Arts and Crafts design and workmanship. There is a low starting price and no reserve. Thank you for looking. Mystery clock Seth Thomas # 2 or Ansonia weight driven green
I have just purchased a large collection of clocks. Check my site often it will take at least three months to dispose of all these clocks.Selling from my recent collection a weight driven mystery clock. When I bought it I was told it was a Seth Thomas# 2. But I really don't think so. I think it's an Ansonia. It has the unusual green finish. I have seen this finish before on mission oak furniture. I am positive the finish is correct for this clock. The dial is a paper dial with a Seth Thomas trademark. But I have never seen a real Seth Thomas# 2 with a paper dial. Also has the hands held on with a small nut. I have never seen a Seth Thomas# 2 with anything other than a tapered pin to hold hands on. The movement is not signed. The only signature is the paper dial and I don't trust. Any way it is a nice clean original eight day weight ... moredriven clock. This clock is running and keeping good time. The movement appears to be clean and possibly recently serviced. Nice heavy oak case. The dimensions are 36 x 16. I charge $10.95 for packing. Handling and insurance on this item. Postage is extra. Very typical of the period there is beautiful intricate engine turned decoration to the hinged lid and the base. The sides are in a reeded design. The thumb piece on the lid is of cast floral form. On the lid there is a blank oblong cartouche allowing the owner to engrave a personal monogram etc. The interior of the piece is completely gilded(gold plated) There is a wonderfully decorative hinged scroll and floral pierced grille. Good clear hallmarks for Thomas Shaw Birmingham 1834 are seen on the lid and the base. This superb vinaigrette measures 28 x 41 x 11 mm and weighs 33 grams. The condition of this piece is exceptional for its age. It appears that the previous initials ... moreon the cartouche have been polished off. There is a barely visible pinhead size hole on one end of the base where I believe the item was suspended on a chain etc. The lid closes completely flush and the gilding is completely intact and without wear. Vinaigrettes became popular during the 18th century and later as population centres grew. There are many examples of them crafted in various materials(gold.Silver,porcelain etc. shapes and styles. They were carried by the ladies or the gentlemen to mask foul odours which was present in the streets due to lack of proper sanitation. A sponge was usually soaked in perfume which was placed inside the base. The grille was then closed over the sponge and the lid shut. They are usually quite small. Light and potable and used to be carried in the pocket or purse although many were attached to watch chains and bracelets as fobs. The Lady or Gentleman would open the lid and hold the vinaigrette under their nose as they passed through any smelly areas. A really nice example of a Georgian silver vinaigrette. The box closes neatly with a good hinge. The intenal hand cut grille is well gilded. Fits well and has a good secure hinge. The interior is well gilded. The markings are excellent Thomas Shaw 1828 to the base, and additional marks to the inside of the lid& the sterling lion to the underside of the grille. The central cartoche is unengraved and the engine turned decoration is crisp. The foliate decoration to the thumb piece is lovely. All very satisfactory. English sterling silver gravy or sauce ladle made by Thomas Chawner of London in 1771. This old piece is done in a classic, simple form and has a slight curled back handle tip. The handle has an old, original monogram of the letter C over the letters I and F, which used to symbolize a marriage. The top initials is the newly shared last name above the two first name initials of the bride and groom. The back of the ladle is marked with the crowned leopards head for London. The lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter Q for the year 1771 and a makers mark for Thomas Chawner. This piece is in excellent overall condition for its age.
