Winston IM6 XD 9' 12 Weight
Winston IM6 XD 9' 12wt 6 3/8oz fly rod. Has very miner wear to handle. Serial number 13275. Rod is in excellent condition. The rod was produced in early 1990 from an IM6 blank supplied to Winston by G. Loomis. The XD(eXtra Distance) rods were composed of a stiffer graphite layup and had a faster action for distance casting than the"normal" IM6 rods. Hence the"XD" moniker. The XD is one of the more rare IM6 era models. This is a great rod to fish, collect, or both. This rod is 9' two peice and an excellent choice for large saltwater game including tarpon.

Winston Pre-IM6 9' 6 wt fly rod with RARE Silver Trophy Cup Label
Here is an opportunity to acquire a classic R. L. Winston fly rod that is not only in very good condition but also is a piece of Winston history. This 9 foot. 6 weight, three-piece rod was built in the mid-1980s soon after Winston had moved from San Francisco to Bozeman, Montana. It is built on a pre-IM6 Fisher graphite blank with the smooth action that has made Winston famous. It has a full Wells grip and down-locking rod seat. This rod has the sought-after"Trophy Cup" label. As you probably know. The standard Trophy label was on a gold background. However, a few were made with the Trophy on a silver background, and this appears to be one of those rare examples. Writers on the Winston forum have speculated that Winston received from its label supplier a batch of"wrong" color labels and used some of them until the supplier ... morereplaced them with the"correct" gold background labels. Regardless of the reason, very few rods exist with the Trophy Cup on a silver label, and this is one. The rod is in very good condition and a pleasure to fish with. The original green cloth rod sack is like new. The original silver-color rod tube has the original Winston label that is partially worn off. And the exterior of the tube bears scrapes and scars commensurate with its age. It's time for me to trim down my rod collection. I'll pack carefully and deliver immediately after receiving payment. Cabelas Fish Eagle II 9'6" 9/10 weight Fly Rod for Stripers. Salmon, etc. I fished this rod for stripers back east and then for salmon and steelhead after I moved out west. It is a big, powerful rod that is easy to cast and throws a WF9 like a catapult. At one point I broke the hook keeper, so I removed that and put a nice trim wrap there. You can see this area well in the photos. If I didn't mention it, you might not even notice. The butt section has a some micro scratches you can see in the photos. It also has a couple minor scuffs. Here is a nice early IM6 G Loomis graphite fly rod. It is a 2 piece. 8'6" 7 weight with full wells grip. The model number on the rod is F1027. The cork grip may show signs of light use, but it is difficult to find signs of use on this rod as the pictures attempt to show. It comes with a case and bag which are unmarked. I am not sure if they are original, but they are nice. Gary Loomis first became known for his rods using IM 6 graphite and this is a great example. Payment must be received within 7 days. While I am no expert on fly rods, here is what one observer had to say about this rod. The research i have done say's that the winston IM6 blanks they used early on were built by loomis and then wrapped or finished by winston.
