It retains its chrome Butt Pin. it also has the old fashioned tie line addition. MY Opinion is that this is the sweetest of the two. The one with unbroken Glass Eyes is also known as a Best Ever"OLE BLACK JOE. It also has its chrome pin. There is a most interesting history on these Indiana-Ohio fishing lures. Mr. Carter obtained his patents in about 1919. It is suspected his later"partner" Mr. Dunkleberger, was responsible for including glass eyes into these Antique lures. YOU decide. here is a vintage. Classic, FYE fly box. hand made in Holidaysville, Pa. these boxes were made by Ronald Fye from 1948 to 1960. FYE is stamped on the back of the box and may be lightly visible in the 2nd picture) FYE boxes are the forerunner of the"Richardson Fly Box" that is still available from PA. a new"Richardson" of similar configuration would be $200. the box measures(approx) 6 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 2 1/4" and has the original chest harness. this classic box features all aluminum construction and 16 cork lined fly compartments. it is in good shape to use or collect and works perfectly. some of the original rivets appear to have been replaced and there are some chips in a couple of pieces of cork. please look at the pictures. I can tell you this piece has been used for something I am just not sure what.It has lots of little ding on the top and bottom that you can see from the inside. Some paint loss hear and there but overall very nice.It opens and closes as it should and metal hinges are good.Great decor piece or possibly even a collectible but I really have no idea. This auction is for a rare early Turner Bros. Telescoping 2-Piece Fishing Rod Tube complete with Locking Metal Push Button Cap and Original Paper Label in excellent condition. I believe this one dates to the 1930’s-1940’s and is constructed of a hard fiber material with metal caps on both ends. Has a brown/ maroon color, the paper tag reads“Turner Bros. Wellington Ohio Fine Protection For Fishing Rods” measures approximately 49” long when completely closed, the short section measures 2 ¼” outside diameter and the long section measures 2” outside diameter, when completely opened it extends to approximately 76” long before the two pieces separate and it actually creates a vacuum as you close so you can adjust length. This is a great early fishing collectible a neat one to protect your vintage bamboo fly, spinning or bait cast rods.
