for sale here is a pair of large 6" x 3.5" deep wheatley boxes. Very rare large wheatley fly box stamped on the outer casing wheatley silmalloy metal I counted 238 clips there are no flys included in the sale these are added for effect however would look great with some nice salmon flies in there Insides are are very good but some scratches and a tiny dent on the outside. Im not sure i have ever seen one as big as this and with as many clips The clips have bigger spaces for bigger flys on two doors 7 rows and 7 column and smaller spaces on two doors 7 rows and 10 column

It is a clipped lid one with space for casts and then sectio ns for smaller and larger flies. It is fully working and folds well and contains assorted vintage and modern used and unused flies. Some large salmon flies, some small assorted trout. These are not often seen for sale and highly collectable. Vintage Aluminum/metal Fly Box 6" x 3.5" x 1" Holds 238 Flys 70 on each outside panel and 49 on each inside panel. The are no marking that say who made the box or where it was made that I could find. It looks like the box could be a RICHARD WHEATLEY FLY BOX? It is very well build and closes solidly. Notes on the condition: The brown paint on the exterior of the case is chipped and scratched with some minor rust spots. a few of the fly retention clips are slightly'sprung' and may need to be bent pack into place with some small needle nose pliers or hemostats. The previous owner has added a pair of tweezers to the box to aid with removing the flys. There are approximately 100 flys of different types some I believe are used for salmon fishing. It doesn't get any more classic than the Richard Wheatley English box for dry flies. The"Rolls Royce" of fly boxes. Received this new about 20 years ago from my brother-in-law and have used it for dry fly storage only, never taken out on the stream. 32 compartments- 8 larger and 24 smaller- with spring loaded pop-open clear doors protect dry flies which get crushed in lesser boxes.
