I was always concerned that one errant fumble of the hands while picking out my next trout fly would leave me watching the entire contents of the box on the water floating downstream. Not possible with a Wheatley foam style box. The Wheatley foam is unique.very dense, enabling many dozens of flies to be held securely. This model has a flat foam in the lid, great for nymphs and wet flies, and a ripple foam in the base, great for hackled dry flies. 2 vintage richard wheatley large trout salmon fly fishing silmalloy boxes
for sale here is a pair of large 6" x 3.5" deep wheatley boxes. One is a 4 sided clip in good condition, theres 4 holes drilled on the hinge, dont know why, they dont seem to serve any purpose(3rd foto) the next one is a foam 4 sided, overall good undamaged but the foam could do with being glued down a bit. anyway please look at the fotos, i dont have the time to send out individual dispatch emails but items are normally posted the day after being paid for, i will post anywhere insured and recorded, and please view my other many listings of vintage items this week.thanks for looking.and i do eventually get round to leaving feedback once they build up to about 300 i do them all at once.

Here is a nice vintage fly fishing accessory. It is in used condition with some usage tarnishing/marking of the alloy(see clear picture to decide before bidding) It is stamped with the makers details Wheatley and Silmalloy and looks to be an early one. It is a clipped lid one with space for casts and then sectio ns for smaller and larger flies. It is fully working and folds well and contains assorted vintage and modern used and unused flies. Some large salmon flies, some small assorted trout. These are not often seen for sale and highly collectable. Postage cost reflects the new Royal Mail price structure for this size of item to be packed and posted- this includes time and packaging materials. Vintage Fly box hold 238 flies could be RICHARD WHEATLEY FLY BOX
Vintage Aluminum/metal Fly Box 6" x 3.5" x 1" Holds 238 Flys 70 on each outside panel and 49 on each inside panel. The are no marking that say who made the box or where it was made that I could find. It looks like the box could be a RICHARD WHEATLEY FLY BOX? It is very well build and closes solidly. Notes on the condition: The brown paint on the exterior of the case is chipped and scratched with some minor rust spots. a few of the fly retention clips are slightly'sprung' and may need to be bent pack into place with some small needle nose pliers or hemostats. There are 2 logos on this box: Wheatley Silmalloy Metal' in three lines teamed with a small diamond logo upright with'RW' between' made in England' on the end of the box I believe this 16 compartment box was purchased in Ireland in the late 1980's +/ during a family trip. It has been opened but I don't think it was ever on the stream and is in very good used condition. There are some minor surface abrasions on the interior plexiglass door and a few minor scratches on the exterior that I was unable to get to appear in the photos.
