The original ... moredesign has been helping controlled depth fishermen catch fish since it was patented in 1977 by a couple inventors from Indiana. After many successful years of manufacturing and distributing the release. They sold the business and the product was made in China. Several years ago, that company closed their doors and the product was no longer being manufactured. I fish with braided line for Salmon in the NW. And there is no other release on the market that works as well as the Pro Release for this kind of fishing. I decided to see if I could get my hands on the molds and bring the release back to the market and manufacture it in the USA. I worked with one of the original inventors and an entrepreneur in Indiana to redesign new and improved molds for the latest injection plastics technology. I did the necessary trademark and patent work, and added a number of improvements to make it smaller fish friendly(middle spring) while still maintaining the ability to fish for big fish, with big gear, using braided line, trolling deep, and fast. The Pro Release II is fully rigged and stack-able right out of the package. It's precisely adjustable and easy to convert from port to starboard configuration. I've sold hundreds of releases in my local market this summer/fall and received very good response from fishermen who have used the design for years. Up for sale is a very nice electric downrigger. It has no markings except on the motor. The motor says delco remy. There is a Cabela's sticker on it. The housing is mainly aluminum and has a working depth counter on it along with lots of nice steel braid line. Also included is the rod that attaches to the downrigger. The base fits in a cannon tab lock gimbal mount which I have listed on another auction. Due to the nature of the item these two pieces will be shipped in 2 separate packages. This is an estate sale find and I can't test it as I have no way to plug in this type of cable. However. The reel was taped up nice to keep the line intact and everything looks well taken care of so I would guess it does work or why would someone take the effort? Riviera Sport-Troll Aluminum Downrigger with Fiberglass Rod Mount & Weight incl
What you see is what you get! Entire unit measures@24.5" long. Rod is 12" Paint is coming off a bit around the wheel, could easily be wire brushed and spray painted. The wheel is cast aluminum and the frame work is all aluminum as well. Clamp mount is solid aluminum, and the bolts turn easily. The Lead weight is a little over 7 lbs. and fully functional but the rubber coating is cracked, etc. Little bit of line still on there. All around this downrigger is in good shape. See pics.
