The original ... moredesign has been helping controlled depth fishermen catch fish since it was patented in 1977 by a couple inventors from Indiana. After many successful years of manufacturing and distributing the release. They sold the business and the product was made in China. Several years ago, that company closed their doors and the product was no longer being manufactured. I fish with braided line for Salmon in the NW. And there is no other release on the market that works as well as the Pro Release for this kind of fishing. I decided to see if I could get my hands on the molds and bring the release back to the market and manufacture it in the USA. I worked with one of the original inventors and an entrepreneur in Indiana to redesign new and improved molds for the latest injection plastics technology. I did the necessary trademark and patent work, and added a number of improvements to make it smaller fish friendly(middle spring) while still maintaining the ability to fish for big fish, with big gear, using braided line, trolling deep, and fast. The Pro Release II is fully rigged and stack-able right out of the package. It's precisely adjustable and easy to convert from port to starboard configuration. I've sold hundreds of releases in my local market this summer/fall and received very good response from fishermen who have used the design for years. The coil wire tip, sold under the trademark TWILI-TIP, features a stainless steel spring to resist corrosion and a bright yellow body to improve tip visibility. Designed to fit most popular rod sizes; six inserts, sizes#5 through#16, are packaged with each tip. Installation is simple requiring only Super-Glue. The use of wire line for deep water trolling dates back to the early 1940's. The earliest metallic lines were made from copper and quickly broke due to cold working of the metal resulting from wire fatigue at the rod tip. Although the wire trolling line used today is much improved over the earlier copper wire. The problems of resistance to reeling and the wire fatigue, both caused by the rod guide tip, still exist. Early on several different rod tip ideas were used to minimize the above noted problems. A roller guide was effective in reducing the resistance to reeling. However the radius of the roller is quite small and offers little improvement to reducing wire fatigue and care must also be taken to make certain the wire remains on the roller.
