This is different from the low profile swivel bases that you see by the hundreds on ebay. This one is built like a tank and is made from steel and aluminum. Cannon stopped making these many years ago because it was too expensive to make them from steel and aluminum. They started making the new low profile swivel base design which was cheaper to manufacture. Twelve position swivel plate with positive engaging 3/8 locking pin. Locks every 30 degrees. Item seems to have fallen off the side of a boat and bent one corner. Otherwise looks new. Another feature is the use of a unique positive gear lock system that locks the swivel at 30°- 12 positions without wobble or play. It fits in any of Bert's track and utilizes two tension knobs to lock in into place. Bert's track has grooves that prevent movement after the swivel base is locked down and the adjustment lever is easily operated. We use Polymer bearings, top and bottom, so there is no metal to metal contact.
