2 Vintage Antique Fishing Sinker Mold Lead Weights w/ 1 Homemade This is a pair of old vintage or antique fishing sinker or lead weight molds. The first is the one with the curved handle and was manufactured for make the sinkers I believe. The other is homemade and assume it is made for sinkers as well although much larger than the other one. This one appears to be made from an welder electrode handle or similar clamp with two steel blocks braised or welded to it. Both are in decent shape but do show their age with some rust and other wear. I believe both could easily still be used to make sinkers. I don't see a mark on the first one although it could be there. Thanks for looking!

You can make 5 different sinkers of various weghts at a time 1-5 oz's The mold was used but remains solid and fairly clean. There is some residue inside the cavities that looks like it would easily be removed if you choose. Antique Deep Sea Sinker Mold (aka/Deep drop weights or Downrigger weights)
First. A little background information. Over 60 years ago I used to watch the owner of an old bait and tackle shop near Atlantic City sit in his side yard under the trees casting lead fishing weights for his shop. This heavy mold was found among the other molds he used. I don't know exactly what to call it. Or what it was used for, but this is my best guess. A downrigger weight mold for deep sea sinkers that appears to have been made by a blacksmith. Made of iron and weighs a hefty 5 pounds. 6 ounces. Each of the three cavities measures 7/8 inches in diameter and 2-1/8 inches deep. Closed it measures 5-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 1-7/8" Tight and would still cast nice weights. This is one of the stranger cast iron pans I've seen.probably not for cooking.It's antique and has odd cone-type holes for? Someone has suggested it may be for forming/casting metal or lead? Possibly for making fishing weights.It's very old and has no maker's marks anywhere so I don't know who made it or where. Please look at all of my pictures carefully to see all detail! Antique Vintage Cast Iron Lyman Lead Ingot Mold Sinker Fishing Weights etc
Top measurements are 6 5/8 x 3 ¼” It slants inward with bottom measurements 5 ¾ x 2 ¾” It is 1 1/8” high and has small handle/lip on side coming out about 5/8” All measurements are approximate. It is divided into four sections. In the bottom of each is raised LYMAN spelled backwards so that when lead was molded it came out correctly. Purchased from an old collector who had gone over the lettering with gold paint to highlight the name and used it in a display. We read that these ingots were used often as sinkers as well as other things. No cracks or damage.
