Older Bamboo Fly Rod, interesting handle
For your consideration is this early bamboo fly rod. It has an interesting handle. 2 piece rod. It was attached to the Pflueger Medalist reel which is also listed. I bought it a number of years ago at an estate sale. Nice used condition. Striped wood, nice patina. I couldn't find a maker's name, might have rubbed off. I did find tiny letters in the handle, looks like"A M" A little wear to the bamboo in a couple small places, the brass part at the end of the handle has a small bend. The bottom piece measures 51" long, and the top part measures 43" long.

Two piece(1 tip) length 6' 1/2" aluminium housed butt cap/reel seat. sliding ring front reel seat and shaped cork handle and reel seat which I believe to be rare. The ferrule is aluminium and has an"O" ring. All the ferrule reel seats and cork ends are a gold painted aluminium. The rod is not bent or ding. It is a metal of some type. The handle is cork and is in fairly good condition with only a small area of slight damage. See the pictures. It measure 43 3/8" long closed and about 84" when extended out. It might go longer I do know. I did not force it. The handle is marked Bristol. But identified as being manufactured by Terry Clock Company of Waterbury, Ct. through online articles identifying the patented foot design. This reel is constructed of brass. It has a full time clicker. It is in good working condition. The foot and clamp are riveted together, and the foot is riveted on the back plate and screwed on the front plate using a supporting block. It appears the foot would offer more support than just a clamp. It is in very good condition, appears lightly used, almost new in appearance, see photos) The reel is very well constructed with the pillars, end plates, handle and foot all being quite substantial for the size reel. The handle has a wood knob in very good condition. The Terry Clock Company made reels primarily ... morein the 1870s and 80s. VERY cool old metal Fly Rod! Very nice older steel rod for the collector. This is a long close to 8 feet when pulled apart. The old fly rod is about 3 feet 2 1/2" when together. It extends into three sect ions the handle. A mid piece and the upper piece. It contains only three guides all in goo d shape. The paint is worn off alot of the steel and not sure if it's made of Brass or Steel but sure the old flyrod collector will know. The old fishing rod has all the eyes and may be a rare Bristol Rod? I am guessing that this is a steel rod- it is round(unlike most steel casting rods that are hexagon shaped) with blackened surface(perhaps japanning) Last picture shows small section where paint flecked off. Each section has one eyelet(don't know if this particular model is supposed to have more than one or not- my research uncovered some steel rods that had no eyelets by design) Tip section has a unique designed tip. Nice turned wood handle Reel turns easily- button slides to'clicking' position but there is no stop. It still spools out while clicking- retrieves nicely. This auction is for a vintage split bamboo fly rod from a local estate. I can not find a manufacturer's name on it. It is a three(3) piece rod. The butt section measures 40-3/4" long. The middle section measures 39-1/8" long. The tip section measures 37-1/2" long. The rod measures 9'7" long assembled. There are no guides on the butt section. The middle section has one guide. The tip section has two(2) guides but no tip eye. The tip section is not broken off on the end. The handle is Rattan wrapped. The case is a wood core center section with a canvas outer case. The canvas outer case has some holes in it. With a little TLC this could make a great vintage rod or just leave alone and display it as it is. Please see my listings for other vintage items. Up for bids is an unique. One-of-a-kind, artistic rebuild of an early 8 1/2' split bamboo(Chubb) Three piece rod with two tips. This rod is absolutely phenomenal! It is a 4# and weighs in at 5 ounces. The finish on the rod and the balance is as good as I have ever held in my hand! This would be the ultimate with drys! It is so light. Balanced and the tip? Antique Victorian Alnwick Hardy Fly Fishing Rod Snake Eyes Cork Handle Date 1899
HARDY TEN FOOT FLY ROD. I first started fishing at the tender age of eight. Now into my sixties I have been through it all, pleasure, match, running clubs and ponds and now the more relaxing bite-less hours of carp fishing. Over the years I collected ABU and Mitchell reels and a few rods. This was my Holy Grail of tackle and took pride of place when talking vintage tackle, it is exactly as I purchased other than the annual polish I had to give it, the condition is not good but for its age I suppose that can be forgiven, the non-prefix number points to 1899 I think, the cork handle is very fair with reel rings and stop ring all intact, the rod itself has issues with the varnish in places and slight curvature that I am sure will correct, original Hardy snake eyes are correct other than one missing, the remaining ones have rusty surface again ... morethis is correct as the eyes would have been steel wire produced, the top eye is twisted, the ferrell's are the Hardy Twist Lock but are probably the worst feature of the rod, the female needs re-whipping and the male has all but lost the locking pin to rust. It is complete in a rod bag possibly original but again in poor condition. Well there it is. Probably one of the oldest Hardy rods you will see on ebay this year, needing a expert to bring it back to life or as myself just a great talking point. For bid is this good condition used Vintage Pflueger 315-FY 8ft Fly Rod w/ Cork Handle for fishin fish. I do not know much about fishing rods but i will try and describe. This is my fathers. This rod is marked as you see in picture 2. Pflueger 315-FY Length 8' This rod does not look like it was used that much, the eyes or line guides look good, the rod shaft looks good, the cork handle looks good and the reel mount area looks clean. This fly rod is a 2 pc and both lower and upper sections are about the same length so i would say the tip was never broke and put together it is just over 8' This rod looks in good condition as you see in the pictures and would be great to have for your fishin seasons. Nice Vintage Steel JC Higgins Telescoping Fly Rod with Lawrence Reel Cork Handle
This is for A Nice Vintage Steel JC Higgins Telescoping Fly Rod with a rusty Lawrence fishing reel on it. The pole is still in pretty good shape with just some minor surface rust on it. It still telescopes pretty good but does stick some on the middle section. It Measures about 8 foot 6 inches from the tip to the end of the handle when telescoped out. It is about 43 inches long when pushed back in. The reel is a Lawrence but is pretty rusty and missing the handle. The side graphics still look good thats why I left it on. Thought if you wanted to display the pole the reel doesn't look that bad. The reel still turns but never tried it to much to see if it would work or not.
