Vintage Split Bamboo Hexagon 9ft Bassmaster Fly Rod w/Cork Handle& Plastic Seat. Butt has marbleized plastic seat with brass fittings. The fitting has stamped on it Pat. No. 1624052. Hexagon rod has in black writing"Bassmaster" and hook eye and one guide eye with intact ferrule. There is some sort of black wrapping on two places. The butt rod is solid I don't see any crack or splits in the bamboo. This butt section is 36 1/2" long. The mid-section 36 1/2" long and missing all 3 eyes. There is tape or varnish and a light red wrapping on the rod which looks like an eye was wrapped there. Ferrules are intact and fits both the butt and the tip well. The tip is 36 1/2" long with all of it's eyes. Tip and ferrule. The varnish has scaled on all three sections. The sock in the photos is not with this rod. Vintage& classic style. ANTIQUE"SAMPSON STEEL FLY ROD" from late 1880's/90s era, composed of three(3) Rod Sections composed of black enameled steel plus one(1) nickel-plated Handle Section with Cork Grip, all still in very good overall condition and dating from just before the Turn-of-the-Century we'd guess, based on style& materials used, as well as markings. Rod sections measure approx. 27" OAL for each of the two(2) uppermost sections with double-side"ring" guides, and about 33" OAL for the larger dia. base section with"snake" guides. All three sections plus handle& cork grip piece have slip-fit, brass male/ female ferrules. Nickel-plated steel handle is clearly marked with: SAMPSON STEEL ROD" Union Hardware Co. Torrington, Conn. USA" and is fitted with slip-ring upper ... morefor the reel with back end of the Reel foot slipping into a dedicated slot as you'd expect.See Photos) Overall condition is excellent still with all parts& pieces as designed& as manufactured, plus black enamel paint appears to be about 98% overall. The guides are all"wire wrapped" as are the upper(female) ferrule ends. Handle socket is clean enough for the male end to fit all the way into the large, female end. The upper two(2) ferrule connections slip-fit half way easily& hold, but would seat to full depth if carefully cleaned out we'd guess. Cork"cigar" grip is near to 100% still, and the reel foot seat& back grip area shows light wear from use long ago. but that's about it! Actual weight of this SAMPSON STEEL FLY ROD is approx. eight(8) ounces, just as shown here. vintage fishing fly rod PEQUEA cork handle 8' two piece bamboo?
I have no idea of the history behind this or the value if any so I am going to take offers for it. With that being said please understand that my asking price is just a number and I am looking for the best offer of what it is worth to you. I am very realistic and fair. When I got this it went on my pole rack and has been there for 20+ years. I am unable to identify the material that it is made from but the handle is cork and the metal is non magnetic brass or copper probably. There is a lot of string work on it around the eyes and the golden overlays. There is a label on the pole and"PEQUEA" is the only legible word I can see. Antique Steel Fishing Rod 4 Pc Young of Harrow Otter Cork Handle w/Red Agate Eye
Vintage Black 4 Piece Young of Harrow Otter Steel Rod w/Cork Handle Rubber Tip. This 7 ft 4 section fly/casting rod is black steel with rubber button on the end and cork handle is 11 3/8" long. The reel seat has been stamped Otter Steel Rod Pat. April 02. 07. This antique has red agate eye and a tunnel guide on the first section and ferrules are good with a tight fit at 35" long. The next section is 20" long and has like a double metal eye. Some of the black paint has chipped or wore off. There are spots of rust showing please check the photos. The last section the tip is 20" long with a again double steel eye and an red agate tip. Even with the rust this is a very nice rod in good condition fully intact. I got the Young of Harrow Otter steel rod from the internet connection if it is not right please let me know.
