Goodwin Granger Bamboo Fly Rod Reel Seat Here is an Goodwin Granger uplocking nickel silver reel seat with the 1938 patent date and number. It came off a Granger parts rod which I am auctioning later tonight. The seat is 3 1/4" long when closed. There are a number of dings- please examine the photos carefully. It opens and closes fairly easily. Although it wants to twist off the ridge on the barrel when you are closing it(the butt cap might be a bit out of round) Also, the screw nut is missing so the cap will unscrew all the way off. An excellent condition 8 foot 5/6 weight 2 piece fly rod made on a Lamiglas"Perigee" blank. These rod blanks were so popular that after they were discontinued. Lamiglas had to make a special run to meet demand. The reason they were so loved is their light swing weight and terrific action. The blank feels light as a feather yet has amazing power and responsiveness. These are excellent rods. This one was made with a beautiful box elder burl wood reel seat with black hardware. Guide wraps are dark green to match the dark olive green blank. Would be a great small stream smallmouth rod, or a good streamer rod for trout fishing. No tube.

Bamboo Fly Rod. E. W. Edwards 4 section(two tips) 9 ft. long for a 6 weight line. The rod has been refinished. NB: Edwards rods are often disputed for authenticity. So I had an expert friend tell me it is"likely" a Eustis Edwards rod, even though it is unmarked or the name has worn off over time. The ferrules and reel seat speak E. W. Edwards. There is no guarantee that it is absolutely an E. W. Edwards rod, but again, everything matches. Also, I have other Edwards' rods with signatures and this rod fits. The rod has been completely rewrapped in silk nearly identical to the original wraps that were tattered. The reel seat is wood. And at some time in its history, an owner of this rod made the notch in the seat a little deeper to accomodate the foot of his/her reel. No effect to its performance but should be mentioned. The cane ... moreis sound and the rods casts a 6 weight line smoothly. All the ferrules are original& nickel silver. One tip is short and is 30 inches long. the other tip is short at 35 inches long. The butt and mid sections are equal at 36 inches each. The varnish shows some crazing when looked at closely. But the patina on the rod is a beautiful, rich brown tone. This rod is most like getting closer to 90 years old. It still has a lot of life and should be fished. I hope the new owner will take this rod fishing. The rod comes in a non-original bag and tube. This is a Fenwick Fly Rod FF 806 Model M238384. This is a hard to find model with the cork reel seat. This rod is in fantastic condition. It has 2 stripper guides and 7 snakes guides plus the tip tip. All wraps are in great shape. No stress cracks or issues of any kind. This rod has a red rod bag and the original triangle fenwick tube with lid. The hinge is broken but that to be expected. If you have any question please message me. This is a fine example of a fantastic fly rod. I will ship in a solid tube with lots of padding and insurance. You will love this rod.

7 1/2' 4-section Wright& McGill Trailmaster. With Granger patent reel seat stamped Wright& McGill Rod Co. Denver Co. U.S.A. Here is a piece of blue collar fly-fishing Americana in what appears to be unmodified factory form. Including the patented reel seat, a compact and stylish uplocking seat. The pictures will enable you to decide if you wish to add this rod to your collection or simply to acquire the unique reel seat for restoration of another rod. The reel seat shows some minor finish wear but is without cracks or dents. And its uplocking mechanism works as it should. Like the reel seat. The rod was photographed with a goal of accurately displaying its condition. It was not cleaned or modified in any way before the photographs were taken. The rod assembles and flexes moderately without sign of damage, but in older fiberglass ... moreblanks, hidden deterioration is a possibility, and without more testing and inspection with components removed, it is impossible to rule out. The ferrules assemble/disassemble as they should, but will fit and function more smoothly after cleaning. The cork grip needs regluing at minimum; its medallion is missing. The guides are all in place. But rewrapping in at least one area is needed. The blank itself is weathered. I would expect this rod to refinish nicely and would do so myself if pack rods were useful to me. Typically. The fiberglass buffs to a beautiful finish that gains luster, depth, and character with a coat of spar varnish or rod finish. Refinishing this classic is within the ability of a rod-building hobbyist. And/or its reel seat could be removed and used for another project. There is always some uncertainty with older rods such as this one. But they can be fun and instructive to repair, fish, or collect. Based on its style, the use of metal ferrules, but the presence of a numerical line-weight marking(6) I would estimate the rod to be from the mid 1960s, but I do not know for certain. A noted Northern California fly fisherman who occasionally taught fly tying classes at Henry’s Fork and made beautiful rods in his spare time. This particular rod is 9’ in length and was made with a Fisher blank and a Powell reel seat. The rod was made with 2 tips which are not truly identical as the line guides on the 2 tips are not placed in exactly the same position on each tip. This is a minor detail but emphasizes that these aren’t factory made rods. The rod will easily fish 4 or 5 wt. line This is a very well made rod that has been used only a few times and is in excellent condition. Lamiglas 3/4 wt. 78" 2 Pc. Custom Graphite Fly Rod - Zebra Seat & SIC Guides
For auction is a lightly used custom built Lamiglas 3/4 wt. two piece graphite fly rod. It is 6' 6" 78" in length. The guides are Pacific Bay SIC black single foot(2 foot stripper guide) The reel seat is zebra wood with black hardware. It also has a black hook keeper. Unfortunately the photos don't do it justice. The wraps are brown with dark brown and copper foil trim. The decorative butt wrap is a nine diamond pattern with tan added to the three guide wrap colors. This is a great little rod for fishing streams or choked small rivers and works well for packing. I only used it a handful of times but the trout landed with it were memorable as the light moderate action can make a whale out of a brookie. Enjoy!

Antique 4 Piece Bamboo Cane 15'6" Fly Rod Tsubasa Reel Seat-Japanese? Local?
Up for auction is a vintage bamboo cane fly rod. The rod itself is unmarked. Except for the maker's trademark of five tic marks on each section of the rod(possibly to denote 5 weight? The rod is four sections and does not have cork, nor does it appear to have ever had cork on it. The reel seat is a Tsubasa brand-possibly Japanese. When put together, the rod measures 15'2" without the top eye because it appears to be missing a small section. The rod should probably be 15'6" There is a piece on the butt of the rod that appears to be for setting against the fisherman's waist while fishing. All of the eyes are present and attached except for the top one, which is broken off, but still included in the sale. The reel seat is also detached, but included. Be sure to check out all the pictures and my other items. There is ... morelight corrosion on the hardware, but it is all original! I found this rod in Knoxville, TN, so it is possible that it was made locally with ordered hardware. This really is a beautiful piece of handmade craftsmanship. WINSTON BIIX 1090-4 Fly Rod 9' 10wt. 4pc. w/ MX reel seat factory rod
This is a Winston B2X 9' 10wt. 4pc. fly rod. I had Winston put a MX reel seat on it as I preferred the aluminum reel seat and slightly bigger fighting butt. This rod is in good condition and shows normal. But minimal wear. Used a handful of times over the past several years for saltwater fishing the only blemish that was obvious is a bit of boat paint that is on the ferrule(shown in last image above) I'm sure this could be removed with a mild solvent, but it has no affect on the rods performance.

Hexagon rod has in black writing"Bassmaster" and hook eye and one guide eye with intact ferrule. There is some sort of black wrapping on two places. The butt rod is solid I don't see any crack or splits in the bamboo. This butt section is 36 1/2" long. The mid-section 36 1/2" long and missing all 3 eyes. There is tape or varnish and a light red wrapping on the rod which looks like an eye was wrapped there. Ferrules are intact and fits both the butt and the tip well. The tip is 36 1/2" long with all of it's eyes. Tip and ferrule. The varnish has scaled on all three sections. The sock in the photos is not with this rod. A polished bronze stripper guide with chrome snake guides. The handle was hand made with AAAA+ Select sectioned Redwood burl handle and reel seat with German Silver hardware. Fisher Blank R L Winston Factory Fly Rod with Scrimshaw Reel Seat
Up for consideration is an early Fisher blank R L Winston Fly Rod. Made shortly after they moved from San Francisco. It is a 2 piece 7 weight 9' 6" length. With serial number 5561. It was made on August 21st, 1985. The condition is excellent for its age. Blank is nice and shiny. No scratches or issues other than the cork handle is a little dark from handling and age. Reel seat hardware is mint with no scratches. Does not come with rod sock or original tube. It does however come with a Filson rod case with bridal leather straps. It has character and shows use but still in nice condition for its age. You will not be disappointed. Rod has nice gap at ferrule when put together. The reel seat is bakelite and was engraved by well known scrimshaw artist Ginny Hall from Vancouver British Columbia. It shows a mayfly on a willow branch. I ... morehave never seen another Ginny Hall Scrimshawed Fisher graphite blank Winston offered for sale on Ebay or anywhere else for that matter. The scrimshaw seat was a $200 option when made in 1985. I used this rod one time this past year, catching a 30" steelhead on the Anchor River here in Alaska. The serial numbers match. I have no intentions of ever using this rod again because of its rarity. The action is parabolic and you feel the fish into the handle. I said to myself I would never sale but my interests have changed and see no use of it just hanging on the wall in my den. However I will not give it away because it is a rare and wonderful piece of Winston history. Don't wait for it most likely will not last. Bamboo Fly Rod! "lil 6 Footer" Custom Built with Burl handle & reel seat !
Here we have a Sweet little Custom made 2 piece. 3 wt. 6 foot Bamboo fly rod. This rod was made from the top 2 sections of a 3 piece vintage Montague 9 ft Mt. Tom rod. The sectioned handle and reel seat are made of Redwood burl accented with White ash and Purple Heart. It comes with vintage ferrules, German Silver reel seat hardware, Red Agate Stripper guide and chrome Pac Bay snakes and tip guide wrapped in Forest Green silk. This is a very sensitive. Balanced little rod, the perfect length for small brushy streams or the little sidekick you're teaching to fly fish. No reserve. Thanks for looking!
