Up for bids we have a vintage steel fishing rod with a unique pistol grip. It measures 56" long. 3 of the eyelets appear to be missing. But the one on the tip is there. Good and straight. You are viewing an old collector Nelson Pistol Grip rod. Pat no. 2236603 2315539 D-112175. Rod measures approx. 54" from floor to tip including the handle. This one is in good condition. However. I do not profess to be an expert. The only thing I see to be an issue is the left side of the plastic pistol grip has a small gash and both sides of the pistol grip have a separation crack in the plastic as seen in the last photos. It does have the wrench included, but I did not remove it to inspect.

Up for auction is this highly collectible bait casting rod handle. I removed the rod and reel. I noticed that there weren't any"clips" in the handle sleeve. I don't know what they are called. But other handles I've seen had them. The rod was tight fitting, so maybe it doesn't need them. Rod builders can fix this. The handle is hard rubber. The butt cap is tight, but split. Rare Monarch Bamboo Fishing Rod Made in Japan Spin/Fly Fishing w Wood Grip
For sale at a buy it now fixed price is this(I think) early 1950s vintage rod made in Japan. It is a 5 piece bamboo fly/spin fishing combo rod. You reverse the grip section to fish it as a fly fishing rod. As a two piece spinning rod it is a 5'4" rod. As a three piece fly fishing rod it is 8 feet long. There are two fly fishing tips. The line size for which it is balanced is unmarked but it throws a 6 weight line pretty comfortably. As a spinning rod I think you would want to keep the mono at 8 pounds or less. There originally was a round yellow logo but most of that has worn off. At the the front of the logo I can see an H and at tail end of the logo I can make out the last letters of the word Monarch.a known Japanese rod brand or model. With this design it is almost certainly a rod made in Japan. The rod is an early design with ... morea spiral thread wrap around most of the bamboo. It also has an unusual heavily grained hardwood grip. The eyes. Wraps, seat, and tip tops are all intact and excellent. It has an early ring style hook keeper. It comes with the(obviously not original) rod bag that fits and provides some protection but no tube. Condition is used but in truly excellent condition with no damage and very little wear. Vintage J.C. Higgins Pistol Grip Ice Fishing or Trolling Rod. I think most of these were made by Waltco. And sold as a Glasscaster or Stub Caster, this one is not marked as such but was probably made for Sears back in the day. This on is paired nicely with a Pflueger Skilkast reel Model 1953. The rods pistol grip handle is made from aluminum with bakelite plastic grips(both slightly loose from age and shrinkage) The fore grip is also matching dark maroon plastic bakelite. The rod is steel with one eye at the end. Embossed on each grip is"J C Higgins Pistol Grip" Both pieces are in very nice vintage condition with light tarnish and scratches on the aluminum from age and use. The reel works nicely. So smooth, very little boat rash and clicker works. Most(90% of the discoloration on the reel is from the camera flash, side plates are ... morestill nicely chromed. Top thumb bar shows it's ware. I didn't realize how smooth winding an old Skilkast could be, it almost spins as free as an old Kentucky reel. The rod measures approx. 23" from tip to end of handle. Very nice Daiwa baitcasting rod with cork handles. Metal reel seat. Exact model number is partially rubbed off but it appears to be 2031. 6 feet in length. Feels like medium action.
