NO BIDDING- NO WAITING Wow- what a find. This appears to be a Sukura Model 104 5 piece combination fly and casting rod set. This is an authentic Sukaria brand product from Tokyo. Japan. There is an 8' fly casting option; a 5' 3" bait casting option; and, a bamboo fly fishing rod combo with cork handle. The kit is contained in a fitted oak case. One end of the case has a price sticker showing the original date of 4-53 and the original price of $6.50 on it. There is also a Sukara decal between the two stickers. The top of the oak case has the label shown in the second photo. The first photo shows a loose label or decal that is rolled up inside the case. The 3rd photo shows all four broad sides of the oak case. The case opens to the fitted section holding the five rod sections. The top half has a tackle section holder with two sliding ... morecovers. For sale is a Royal Monarch Split Bamboo Fly Rod along with an assortment of flies and other tackle there is 24 old flies some hooks and bobbers and leader line. This is a used fly rod. It is in it's original wood box, the box does have some wear due to age and use it's still functional opens/closes there is a plastic cover over the tackle that slides out with some effort. This Fly Rod has 5 pieces the Handle. Mid-section and 3 different tips, I think it's an 8 ft rod. There is a small piece of rubber at the base of the handle. I think it may have dried out. Looks like is is going to fall off at some point. Other than that the rod seems to be in good condition. I have not put it together or used it. But I don't see any visual problems with doing so. There are no markings on this rod. But I think it could be an impregnated Orvis kit rod. It is certainly a high quality rod with 8 snake guides and a stripper. Orvis fiberglass kit fly rod 8’ 2pc
The earlier yellow Full Flex blanks were supplied by Phillipson. This one is fitted with the Reeder-McGill seat and Foulproof Aetna guides. Suggesting it was assembled sometime maybe in the early 70’s. The seat works just fine, the ferrules have no issues, and none of the guides are ready for replacement yet. Wraps are still secure. There is a small scuff above the grip on the butt section.Full Flex rods in this length originally were spec’d for 7wt lines but you may do OK with a 6wt. These had the durability we all recall fiberglass rods for, and this would make a nice streamer rod. Whoever assembled this tried to carve out a thumb rest like on the Wes Jordan models but they never smoothed it out. Sorry, no bag or tube. Questions are welcome.
