This is. I think, Horrocks-Ibbotson cane. It was my intent to refinish this rod for one of my youngsters to use(but he is more interested in skiing with girls than flyfishing) and you'll need to refinish it before you can fish with it(if it were me, I might also re-set the ferrules, just for the comfort of knowing they're held on by modern glue) The cane is in good condition, and I straightened it; the ferrules are tight and"pop" nicely when separated; and the cork and reelseat are also in good condition. Both tips are a fraction of an inch shorter than than the mid and butt, but I believe they were made that way, because both taper to the same size. Vintage Bamboo Fly Rod Tip and Mid Section
I have up for auction a great tip and mid section to a vintage fly pole. The tip is 36" inch's long. Snake guides, wraps, and ferrels all solid just need a cleaning. H.L. Leonard Bamboo Fly Rod Great Condition Cheap Ready to Fish 9' 3 piece 2 tip
NO RESERVE AUCTION You have the opportunity to fish with a fantastic piece of American history this spring. I have found an H.L. Leonard fly rod that is in great fishable condition without any need for work. This rod has been fished and cared for over the years. I do not know the exact model number or when it was manufactured. But it had the look and feel of a pre-fire rod. Everything is tight, with the rod just having been sent in for a re-wrap and re-varnish. It looks fantastic. Everything was rewrapped exactly how I found the rod. All the English style guides are in great condition. The ferrules are tight and pop when removed. The cork handle is in original condition as is the butternut reel seat, with hand rubbed varnish. I did not want them cleaned to retain the character of the rod. This rod comes with what I believe to be the original ... morerod bag(it is starting to get a couple holes in the bottom, but nothing 30 seconds through a sewing machine couldn't fix) and what I know to be an original Leonard rod tube. The tube shows some wear and has a couple cracks in the brass end caps but everything is solid and it proects the rod as it should. With a little polishing could be brought to look almost new. The only bad thing is that it has a short tip on the spare tip section, however could be scarfed if the new owner wanted a full length tip. I thought it cast just as well and would recommend just fishing the short tip as is. 9 foot total length. 3 piece, 2 tip. 4.4 ounces with the three full length sections. Sections: Base- 36 1/2" long. Ferrule size is 17/64, cork handle 4 3/4" long between metal checks, 7/8" in diameter at it's thickest point Mid- 36 1/2" long. Ferrule size is 17/64 male, 11/64 female Tip 1- 36 1/2" long. Lot Of 6 Good Used Vtg. Fishing Rod Agate Tip-Tops Line Guides-3 Of Each-Fly ?
I’m not sure if these came from old fly rods or casting rods. It appears that the two tip-tops that are attached to the partial blanks are a fly rod size. They are amber in color. The other tip-top and the three guides appear much more reddish in color. I don’t know who made them or the exact sizes. None are damaged from use or abuse. And all have some soil. I firmly believe that the metal areas will polish up nicely by the right person. I’ll let the photos say the rest. Items will be shipped in a box. Manufacturer Milward, Length(mm) 2780, Weight(g) 300, Condition The rod is in pretty good shape. The bindings are all tight and unfrayed. Canes are all well stuck together and not separating anywhere. All eyes are present and undamaged. Although they all have surface rust and would definitely need to be cleaned up if it was ever to be used. The varnish is not flaking, however it is showing its age with crazing and wrinkling. Cork on the butt is good but age discoloured. All the brass fittings are good, just need a good clean and polish. The bag is very discoloured and perished in quite a few spots. Green River Bamboo Fly Rod #4 7' 2/2 (2 piece, 2 tip)
The rod for sale is a 7' 2/2#4 Mettowee series. This is an impregnated finish rod. With green/black wraps, delicate 5" grip, upsliding Bellinger Reelseat with burl spacer, CSE truncated ferrules, along with bag and tube. The rod has been very lightly fished a couple of times and is in virtually as-new condition. The action is similar in style to a Payne 98, with a light tip/dry fly action and a large swelled butt. This pole belonged to my Great-Grandfather it seems to be in great condition. After looking at others listed. It is marked"SOUTH BEND a Name Famous in fishiing" written onto the pole is"HDH or D" and on the opposite side of the pole is written"346-9' the last photo shows that some varnish has popped off. It looks like the one tip was used more often. or had a big one on it at some time! I know nothing about fly fishing or vintage poles. so I took many pictures of it outside in good lighting. Wright McGill Granger Victory GV8642 8 foot 6 inch 3 piece 2 tip Bamboo Fly Rod
You are bidding on a beautiful used original Wright McGill Granger Victory GV8642. Beautiful rod ready to fish. The rod casts a WF5 or DT6 fly line beautifully. All sections are equal length with exception to one tip that is short by 4 inches. Straight as an arrow, reel seat functions and is like new, ferrules are perfect. If you want an 8.5 footer to fish this is it. All the wraps look great. The cork looks and feels new, with some slight dirt from honest use. I tried to portray this in the pictures. Varnish is really nice. This is one heck of a great looking rod and it is ready to fish as is. The cardboard rod tube is in really nice shaped. With only a couple spots missing paper, see pictures. The 8 ft 6 inch length in my opinion is great for the fisherman out there. Rather than the collectors. Let the collectors keep paying way to much ... morefor the shorter rods that don't have the length to high stick or mend the way a fisherman needs to catch fish. The shorter rods, may cast a little better, but I would be willing to bet these longer rods catch more fish, since you have the length to maneuver the fly. One of the tip sections is 4" shorter than the other. On close inspection, it appears to have been designed this way. All but one of the windings on the second section, are not the original.
