I have scoured the internet and message boards, but have not found an exact photo of this rod. The cork handle is thicker in the middle and tapers symmetrically to either end. The reel seat is all metal. And the guide wrappings are yellow with thin red stripes on either side. Vintage Montague split bamboo fly rod. 3-piece. 2 tips. Composite cork grip; down-locking reel seat. The guides are decent, the ferrules have lost their finish and don't seat entirely, the sticker is about 40% there, both tips have a set, everything is dirty, but I left it untouched so I didn't"mess with the patina" This rod could use a restoration but it appears complete. All sections are the same length but the 2 tips have different guide spacing's- I don't know the model or the rod weight; each section is just shy of 36" long- the rod when assembled is almost 110" long. Another restoration project I'll never get to. Comes in an old aluminum rod tube- no sock(I'll wrap it for shipping)

Vintage South Bend 359 – 9, 4 Piece/2 Tip “Flamed” Split bamboo Dry Fly Rod
For sale is a very nice vintage South Bend 359– 9. 4 piece/2 tip“flamed” split bamboo dry fly rod. This is an estate sale find which I would rate at 8.5 on a scale of 10. The only defects I can find are some discoloration on a small area at the front of the cork handle and some scrape marks on the blanks which appear to be from use. There are no markings on the rod other than the South Bend trademark and“359-9” I can find no cracks in the bamboo and the line guides and wrappings appear to be original and in good condition. The 359 series of rod was manufactured in the US from the late 1930s to the early 1950s. This rod comes with a half well“Comficient Grip” in the cork handle and aluminum ferrules. The cork handle has a“S” stamped in it but I don’t know if this was factory applied or was used by the owner for identification. All of the pieces ... moreof the rod are straight and of equal length. My research indicates that the rod should fish a 6 wt. line. The metal reel seat is a positive screw locking reel seat that I understand would date this rod to the early 1950’s. The reel I am selling is the Hydros IV with a Hydros PowerTaper line weight. If you are not familiar with what the line is, its true weight is closer to a 6.5 weight line this helps the rod load and be able to cast better. One of the rod tips appears to have been broken off and a replacement line guide tip has been added. Some of the line guides are missing their wrappings. Found with the rod tip is a wood storage tube. The tips also have a storage sock.there is also a storage sock for the complete rod pieces but it does have a tear in the flap. The grip section has a length of 40 3/4 inches.the broken tip measures 34 1/4 inches in total length. The middle section and the second tip each measure 40 1/2 inches. All measurements include the ferrule. I believe all line guides are present.again ... morethe broken tip appears to have a different line guide at the tip. ORVIS"Impregnated" Pat'd pending 8' Bamboo Fly Rod 3-Piece/2-Tip in very good condition. I am not an expert so please ask questions. The only identification marks are on the base of the reel seat. There are no numbers. The base of the reel seat reads"ORVIS Impregnated Patent Pending" The seat is in good working condition but the bottom of the base is dented. There is a scuff on the base across Orvis. The cork is solid with chips out near the seat and top. All guides and ferrules are tight. The butt section is 33" long. The mid section is 31-3/8" and both tips are 34-3/4" The tips are strait, but both have professional tight repairs. One is 14" from the tip and the other is 27" from the tip. I tried to take photos of the repairs but they are hard to see(see photo) Looking down the guides ... moreon the tip sections I can see through the tip top with just a very slight set. The bag and tube are in very good condition. The label on the tube is mostly unreadable. Please email questions.

I wasn't able to find any markings on the rod other than the South Bend label on the one side and the letters on the other that read"cappy rod" so I'm not sure what the weight of the rod is but its fairly limber. Sage GFL 580 2 piece fly rod 8'0" length. Comes with extra tip that was shortened by 1 1/8" by original owner. The reel seat was glued on and there is a little residual glue on wood. Rod is in beautiful original condition and was one of the first GFL rods made. I checked with Sage and it was never sent in for repair and was built in 1983. MANTAGUE "Sunbeam" 9 ft Fly Rod . Bamboo . Extra Tip . Very Good Plus Condition
This rod appears to be in very good plus to excellent condition. Circa 1930-1940 from my research. I am no expert in the fluid& stream area. So. Research leads me to understand this is a very old sought after fly rod. The 4 sections are shown in photos as well as the parts I believe are most important such as the connecting sections and line eyes. The main rod. Mid section and two tips. I cannot find any stress points or cracks in the bamboo. There is good fixtures of all the line eyes to the rod. The cork handle has one small section absent at the part(shoulder) closest to the rod. The rest is intact. See photo) The body of the rod is hexagon. The coating of protective material(seems a lacquer) appears smooth. Uniform and in very good plus condition. There appears a small amount of discoloration to the(male/female) connectors seemingly ... moremade of brass.sort of a tarnish/patina not rust. Each rod measures 36" in length. With a small amount of TLC this could be restored to near factory in my opinion. Last photo is from a 1940 catalog courtesy of Field and Stream. VINTAGE 1930'S SHAKESPEARE 3 PIECE BAMBOO FLY ROD NO 1362-9 FT. EXTER TIP
3 piece model 1362 9 foot fly rod with a extra tip section the is cracked on the end. The rod ahs some ware marks but in very sound and useable. It looks good and also comes with the original cloth bag.
